Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

He was for a good chunk of the season where we had the 4th best defensive record. Whilst our points record improved after O'Brien started playing right back, our defensive record actually got a bit worse.
He was first choice rb under dyche. then filled in where ever he could when o'brien took his place under moyes

If you say so, the evidence of title winning / champions league winning teams suggests otherwise.
In my Saturday team we always said you can tell the oppo are a strong team when they have really good fullbacks. This isn’t because fullback is an important position. It’s because it’s the least important and if a team has enough talent elsewhere that it has good players playing at fullback then it must be a good team. Every fullback starts off as a winger or centre half or centre mid and get pushed to full back because they aren’t good enough to play in a more important position.

I love how we imagine up the worst case scenarios and not only act like it will certainly happen, but also that multiple versions of it will happen. We are a PL squad without Europe, you realistically need 15 decent players you can rely on, that's it. There is absolutely no team in our position with 3 strikers, 4 wingers, 4 full backs, etc., most teams have depth like ours. For example like the 2 GKs on the bench thing, that's a total choice, the vast majority of other clubs just put u21's who'll also never play there instead, we only notice it because it's us.

Even at right back, people act like we don't have one, we have about 4. People can argue about quality issues or depth issues, but let's not act like it's the same thing, it's been a good window and barring freak injuries (which you can't account for) we'll probably have an aim for top half season.

I hope you are right...never saw him play, and there is zero videos of him on YouTube.
So do I, and neither have I!

But it would seem that way

Either way I think the Leeds game showed that we can be easily bullied in the centre of the park and need some bigger and stronger players. Think this is the rationale behind the Rohl signing (and probably even the Soucek rumours)

Our starting right back from that season has left the club.
Since Moyes took over we still have the 4th best defence (including this seasons games). And JOB has been the right back for the majority of that.

Just from the time Moyes took over (11/01/25) to the end of last season, we actually had the 3rd best defensive record (playing 1 more game than everyone else in that time).
