More likely we’re just sending a promising youngster out for some game time that he wouldn’t get here.

Best case scenario Rohl is boss and Armstrong comes back ready for first team footy and we have a couple of good, young players in the spine of the team either to help us improve on the pitch or to generate a good whack of profit to spend on players in other positions.

Next season we have already potentially got a £72m bill to pay with Merlin & Jack. Lots on here saying it won't end up being 50 for Jack but if he has the season we all hope he has then it probably will be 50m. Why would City take less?
I'm sure the 72 is spread about over several windows but it's certainly something to remember as without sales, our spending will have to be curtailed somewhat next summer.

City will take less because no one will pay 50m for someone over 30 with 1 year left on a contract.

Once the option for Jack expires we can bid what we like. We’ll end up getting him for half that.
