Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We will get
- a young RB on a perm to sit on the bench behind JOB
- an wizened old striker on a free or loan. Taremi vibes
- a CDM on loan with option to buy
- maybe a CB on loan from one of the big boys

Someone a bit younger than say giroud that sort of profile would really suit us at the moment

If we didn’t need a RB and CM, I’d be very happy with Soucek as a different kind of attacking midfielder to what we already have.

Sure, he’s older, but if Moyes thinks he’s within our reach, would be confident in him, and crucially wouldn’t treat him as a fixture in the starting XI (and I don’t think he would) then I’d be okay with it.

Options are key. We can’t ask for a rounded squad and then - when the ‘less fashionable’ but nonetheless useful, player is bought - panic he’ll be considered essential to every XI. We have to trust that - with genuine choice in the squad - that circumstances, and the opposition, will dictate our XI. Though I can understand how years and years of living without options can cultivate fear of an unchanging, pragmatic, XI. That’s behind us now, I would hope.

Anyway, for now I’m gonna treat Soucek as a welcome addition and assume we can fill the other holes in the squad, too.
