I do generally agree with this. We should all be a bit weary of the money that the club are parting with given all that has happened before..

We need to start being savvy operators in the market if we ever want to properly improve in the long term.

Don't mind Soucek tbh. He will do a job in midfield for us.

For what it's worth my gaffer is a Hammers fan and says Soucek will do a decent job under Moyes.

Well, I can tell you how the numbers are arrived at...

The journo who reported the story earlier said West Ham value Soucek at £19m - Bobble's mate Benj has then retweeted the journo's tweet. If he's anything like accurate, it's safe to assume they won't be accepting £10m

He's currently on, by all reports, in the region of £80k to £90k at West Ham - he won't be coming here for a pay cut

He has two years on his contract. He won't be coming here for less than that as he gives himself less security about his own future.

Pragmatic view says a fair bit more than £10m fee, at least matching his wages from West Ham and at least matching his contract length. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation

The real grenade here, is Boro accepted £20 mill for Hackney from Ipswich.

Makes me laugh that people are justifying Soucek with the argument that his goals trump everything. We need a deep midfielder something he is completely incapable of. It's like using Cahill's goal record to sign him as a DM over Gareth Barry or Makelele.

In insolation, I like Soucek, hes a decent PL player who scores goals.

But, yes, we need a RB, a DM, probably 2 Strikers.
