2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Dewsbury-Hall plays there now we've signed Dibling
With 2 CM positions, I think it's fair to keep him here and that he'd get significant gametime.

Allows us to refresh our midfield before the 60-70th min.

There's also the possibility of Garner having to fill in elsewhere, especially if Aznou isn't deemed ready by Moyes.

I don't really see how it's a waste of time? I could get an argument that he should be in the team here (I don't agree, but I could get it) but I can't really understand how going and playing 30/40 games in the Championship would be a waste of time?

How’s it a waste of time a 18 year old getting minutes in a competitive league? Think it’s ideal for him and us, it’s a waste him getting the odd minutes here and there here rather the lad was playing and developing
I think he's more likely to develop as quickly by training every day with far better players and by being around the first team squad. I really don't see the issue with him being part of the squad and fighting for a place and minutes this season. That's pretty normal at his age and I don't see why it can't also be good for his development.

I think he got his experience out playing last year, and now it's time for him to become a part of the squad. It's a long season, he would get minutes. Our squad is nowhere near big enough right now for us to be letting decent players go.

I agree regarding the current squad depth and to a degree regarding training with better players but that’s no substitute for playing competitive minutes in a decent league.

Good move Preston, they have 3/4 ex Everton lads in that team....they have a good team now and will compete closer ot the top of the table.

He is 18 remember, 18.

That's a different thing though? Thinking it's better for his development to stay here doesn't make him going to the Championship a waste of time, it just means you don't think it's the right thing. Obviously you'd hope he, his coaches, his advisors, his manager etc have a better idea of what would be better for his development than we do, having never met the lad or seen him train etc, but I accept that they can be wrong.

Waste of time sending him to the championship. Don't agree with it at all
I’m kinda torn on it, he does need games and that’s the level he’ll get it at but I’m not sure he really needs a full year and a half at that level to learn all he can get from it.

I thought from Moyes’ presser he was alluding to maybe keeping them loaning in Jan after Afcon (assuming he hasn’t cemented a place here).

I could see the logic of that- not only does it provide some cover until Gana and Ili are back but also there is a benefit to training at a higher level which is also important- and this is perhaps his last / only chance to learn from guys like Gana and Grealish who could teach him different elements to his game.

For me another half season in the champ (whichever way round he does it)would accomplish as much as a full season.

A poor decision if we let him go out on loan at this time when we are so short on players in the squad - and those we have in midfield have poor injury records, i.e. Garner and Iroegbunam. Armstrong went to Derby last year during the Winter break. We should keep him here now and if, come January, he hasn't had many minutes on the pitch then let him go on loan at that point.

In what way? In terms of style of play I can't think of anybody he looks less like at the moment. Dowell was a player who had lots of natural talent with the ball at his feet and was capable of magic moments but for 89 minutes you could forget he was playing as he just didn't get involved. The most impressive thing about Armstrong is how intelligent he is in his movement and how well he does the simple things.

I meant the judgement that he was going to be great. I’d prefer him to go away and get a full season under his belt, ideally at a team pushing for promotion in the Championship then get him back as he’ll be more developed.

I think as long as he gets minutes here, which i expect Moyes will give him, then the players he has around him here and the players he will be up against will be a lot more beneficial to his game then to drop down to the championship.

All depends what moyes thinks is best for the lad tho..

Could always send him to West Brom in exchange for first dibs on Fellows..
