My clear memory is that he amazed fans including me by playing well above what we expected, earning him the delightful sobriquet Zinedine Kilbane.Kilbane was rubbish. Seems like a good lad but he was a terrible footballer, I winced every time he was on the team sheet. Like many other players he seems to have become a much better player in the minds of some as the memories have faded regarding his actual performances. Naismith is another one.

Just curious why do you hate Beto so much?Do you always follow bad news with bad news.
I think there might have been a hint of sarcasm in that nickname. My clear memory is that he amazed fans including me by playing well above what we expected, earning him the delightful sobriquet Zinedine Kilbane.
Ah now, that's not fair. All effort mate, I don’t think anyone thought he was amazing, more I think people approved the effort with limits which made him a bit of a cult hero ….like the Strauq.
Ah now, that's not fair.
I agree his performances were full of passion and effort but he surprised us all with his skill level being far above what we expected.
Not that the levels were amazing in comparison to top class players, but amazing that he produced what he did late in his career, against our low expectations, when we were really crying out for top class players.
I remember the groans every time he gave away possession cheaply. In his entire career he has 15 goals (5 for Everton) and 18 assists (3 for Everton). That's for a winger. That's a pretty terrible record. You were obviously very easily amazed. My clear memory is that he amazed fans including me by playing well above what we expected, earning him the delightful sobriquet Zinedine Kilbane.
He did a great job - compare him to Jack Harrison or Andy made of Lager ? who cost a fortune in wages.... he always put a shift in all over his side of the pitch stats tell you nothing about a player ....That’s fair mate, he maybe exceeded initial expectations here.
He was a good honest player in my opinion, but he had limits for me. Not intended to be a critisim really he made the best of the talent he had.
That was clearly an ironic moniker. The only thing Kevin shared with Zidane was the shape of field they worked on and that they both wore boots with studs in them every weekend. Lovely bloke, as average a top flight footballer can ever be and nothing wrong with that btw.My clear memory is that he amazed fans including me by playing well above what we expected, earning him the delightful sobriquet Zinedine Kilbane.
It’s a really weird ‘memory’ of him. He was basically just the jack harrison of the time, a bog standard winger who did an alright job for the team in his own way but clearly wasn’t actually very good.I remember the groans every time he gave away possession cheaply. In his entire career he has 15 goals (5 for Everton) and 18 assists (3 for Everton). That's for a winger. That's a pretty terrible record. You were obviously very easily amazed.

I see he got 110 caps which also surprised me.That’s fair mate, he maybe exceeded initial expectations here.
