Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Get someone powerful who loves a slide tackle for the centre.
Oddly, it looks like Moyes wants a versatile CB more than a RB. I wouldn't be surprised to see us push further for Aké or a similar player.
Another wide player with genuine pace who loves to make darting runs would be a good addition.
A striker must be needed if we're loaning Chermiti to Rangers. It will be interesting to see what type of striker we go for.

Kibane made McNeil look like the roadrunner.
Kilbane was rubbish. Seems like a good lad but he was a terrible footballer, I winced every time he was on the team sheet. Like many other players he seems to have become a much better player in the minds of some as the memories have faded regarding his actual performances. Naismith is another one.

He looks the perfect replacement for when Gana goes
Why would we try to replace Gana with a like for like player? Building a team for continuous relegation fight?

As good as Gana might be, good and successful teams don't have room for a player with his profile.

Gana is useful for Everton as long as Everton set up a team to have less than 40% possession. As he is mostly useful when the opponent controls the ball and the match.

If Everton ever are going to have any kind of success in the future, they must get in players that are better in possession. By increasing possession, we won't need a destroyer type on the midfield.

Fulham is a good example. Palhinha was fantastic for them, but it was very difficult for them to get a balanced midfield with him. After selling him to Bayern Munich he was replaced by Sander Berge. A "worse" midfielder for a third of the money. But better on the ball, quicker, covers more ground and better next to the midfielders they had in the club. Fulham became a better team by "downgrading" their midfield. They had more possession, took more points and goals against was down 15%.

By all means, play Gana when he is available and needed. But looking for a like for like replacement is madness.

Re: Championship quality

It all just depends on the player. Some have a higher ceiling and can play at PL level. Not one purchase is a guarantee (apart from our lovely Jack shexy calves)
Totally depends on the player. Also on the way the wind is blowing with some fans.

Armstrong has a good loan in the Championship: “We should keep him in the squad - he is ready”

Random player ripping up the Championship: “Different level playing against Norwich and Stoke and a huge step up to the PL. We need more quality. Why aren’t we looking in the 4th tier in Austria??”
