It never fails to give me a giggle when a name of a player we are reportedly going for comes up and there is the usual cry of “not good enough “. I would ask those who raise that cry to look at where we have been over the last number of years and to look at the performance we put up last week. I dream of Everton buying £100 million players and having a squad of world beaters but it is not realistic. Am I excited by some of the players we are now going to bring in, no not really but I do recognise that the squad we have isn’t anything but in and around 14th place in the Premier League. We need to get ourselves into the top half and secure our future as a solid Premier League team, we need a playing style that will attract better players, we have the ground now we need to build up a squad the appeals to better players. New players don’t need to be world beaters to improve us.
So in summary Josh Brownhill is the answer to improving a team "14th in the table".
Hes never proved competent in this league mate, hes a Twilight player between the championship and lower 5 of the PL.
Hes 30 in December, what is it in his career to date that makes you think hes going to propel a club forward.
The value proposition is give a basically a Championship, consistently relegated PL player a 3 year contract on £5 mill a year approx.
Last year, yes, it made sense, this year no, we have to move on and not reduce standards.
