Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Thing is Moyes has been very consistent in playing O’Brien at right back and it seems that is the plan for the season ahead. With, I assume, the likelihood that he replaces Tarkowski or Branthwaite at CB in the future, but not this season.

So Iif for this season he considers JOB to be a right back then we only have three CBs- he can’t really be both our starting RB and a backup CB. In which case an extra CB (who can cover other positions) does make some sense.
We tried to sign Tete though. It indicates to me that the ideal plan at the start of the window was to sign a new RB. JOB would have been CB and RB cover. Now that's changed because of the way the window has gone and fitness issues.

Unless Branthwaites completely crocked
Would be another in a long line of "Everton That" moments in history, could cash in for tens of millions of pounds for a player, get him to sign a new improved 4 year deal, immediately picks up an injury that makes him a bit part player for best part of 4 years.

Isn't it absolutely crazy how it is seems like every other Premier League club bloods a few youngsters every season who then quickly become part of the squad.

We either give ours 5 minutes in a friendly and write them off as not ready, or keep them until they're 28 in the reserves.
And the ones who get 10 plus games then become boo boys!

I reckon he was an opportunity signing as was free. The cost of a new RB probably wasn’t budgeted for.
Equally given JOB being a RB/CB option meant that keeping Keane made sense as without, we would be chasing a 4th choice CB which would be a waste of money.
Can’t recall but maybe they kept Keane on after Tete agent had agreed the move, with Keane also pressuring the club about other options.
Maybe Ake is an acknowledgment that we aren’t getting a RB this season and JOB stays there.
