Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I see no evidence of anything happening at all apart from shifting out loans.

I think its time for the press and the fans to petition the club.

Debating and speculating on here is pointless because frankly the office lights are off at transfer central Finch Farm.

The reality is, we combined with getting "sensible" and trying to implement a low wage structure system shedding top earners, we had e Pickford on around 120k, Tarks - last year of contract in around 100k, then whatever Branthwaite is now on, then the drop is to around 70k for any of the others.

We also now are haggling over deals prioritising overall cost over time to get a deal done, and walking away from any deal that the seller sticks relatively firmly to evaluation and asking price of.

Sounds great and sounds sensible.

Until you factor in there's another 19 teams in the league that aren't in a secret agreement with us that this is how we will all operate.

Meaning other clubs are paying fees higher than we are willing to do, players and agents realise that clients can get better wage deals elsewhere.

Take fafana - you offer him high enough wages it'd be European football - who cares.

Let's analyse what we can offer a player, zero silverware for twenty odd years, zero being close to it for about ten, no European footy in near on ten years, at least 4 serious relegation escapes in the past 8-9 years, around ten managers in 6-7 seasons, nearly went under financially, sanctioned recently by the league, the oldest manager in the league whose two years away from retirement.

Yea we have a nice stadium, and we have a very long historical league significance. But it matters nothing in truth, what matters is what you can offer players and agents and right now unless it's decent wages we have no advantage and many disadvantages over the majority of the league.
TFG has to spend the money...thats the reality. Are they willing to spend a lot, more than they could get out of the club, that's the question. If theyre here to make money, then forget about it, because you dont make money in football as an owner...it is a vanity project, and the successfull clubs are the ones where you have owners spending as much as financially allowed, independently of their own fortune. Forest is a good example...that crazy owner is putting the money on the table, and that team could soon become a regular European team...

Who cares? Why is that even relevant? It’s not my job to watch these players, it’s the job of our esteemed recruitment team.

I also have no doubt in my mind that Brownhill instead of Iroegbunam would’ve stopped our midfield getting sliced through with absolute ease but ok.
Again if you listen to Moyes you'll know we've been in for a fair few players this window. You make it sound like buying players is a simple process and you pick who you like and the player is yours. The real world is that we've been in the doldrums for a while and our negotiation point is therefore at a lower base than even someone like Forest who have been gifted a Europa League place. Plus we've had PSR issues over the last few seasons (to put it mildly) so naturally we're going to be more cautious as you learn from your mistakes if you're a professional recruitment team. Sure it would of been nice to have all our business done early but incase you've not noticed it's a big rebuild which is best done step by step and not rushed

Well if Moyes sees it as a priority and it’s now the 19th August and we still have no right hand side, then yes I’m going to suggest that the recruitment team have failed the manager.
Or we've identified Dibling and Southampton are pushing for a deal we're not happy with and therefore we've entered protracted negotiations which is the art of business

Why is he including Grealish's wages in his total but not Barry's or KDH's. Could it be because he's fluffing the numbers. No, can't be, Wee Neil is such an honest lad normally.

Everton DO NOT pay Grealish's wages.

They pay a FEE to City. Much the same as a TRANSFER FEE for a loan player.

Hence the fee is added to the transfer spend.

We’re currently not in negotiations at all by all accounts. Maybe we should’ve entered into negotiations for a priority position player before the 1st August.
