2025/26 Beto

We also buy a lot of players in the 10-30m range where we’re often taking a bit of a punt on them being able to make it in a new league. That’s not a lot of money for a striker. Maybe instead of signing a new crap 25m striker every year we should spend a bit more.
Sad thing is lukaku was our last top flight worthy striker....
How many years ago now?
The years following have been a absolute horror show.

He will, like all players, score some good goals, but not enough for a striker. In the end, he is not good enough for this level. I think we all know that. I think he knows that himself, too
We struggled last night due to being overrun in midfield, and therefore we were unable to make those passes through the lines for Beto to run onto. Instead we were by-passing the midfield and pumping it long and straight to Beto. That’s not his game and resulted in us losing possession so much,

Fix the midfield and we will start to create chances for Beto.

Hard to blame him given the tactics we employed completely failed to give him any quality ball in behind which, for a giant lad, is oddly his game.

All the same, I'd have expected him to do better with what ball he did have. His link up and hold up play was non-existent, didn't seem alive to the ball into feet and lost what felt like every aerial duel.

It's fair enough being predominantly an 'in behind' player, but for a 6ft 3" premier league no.9 you have to more to your game than that. Needed him to win us more ball up the pitch and get our midfield into the game more than he did

Why do people keep saying this, even when Moyes goes out of his way to say the opposite?
He praises his attituted and effort ,( and questioned that in the USA )its like he was talking about a kid coming through not an established Prem Forward
We will see but if moyes is here after this seaon .
I will be supprused if Beto is.
Tactics last night didnt help him but he didnt help himself either.

Agree - he was bullied all game. Don't think he won a single duel last night and looked lazy. When the ball did come his way he didn't retain it and it bounced off him and made him look like a league two player. He may have bagged a few goals last season but we all knew his capabilities were limited. Maybe he feels like he doesn't have anything to prove anymore now he's the number 9? He, like many others last night, stunk the place out.

Same applies to so many positions. Coleman was the only available right back last night and he needed replacing about 5 years ago. The only suitable replacement our. Recruitment team could find in that time was 39 year old Ashley Young.

Moyes prefers well rounded target men up front rather than moments players, not sure it bodes well for Beto at Everton but I hope once the window is closed and we hopefully perform a little better it will benefit Beto

He’s was rubbish. But in fairness his games all about running onto a ball in behind. We never attempted this once. All we did was boot it up to his neck.

But he didnt even try to run in behind when there was options too. Just stood there like a lump being marked by two players.

I see beto back to the whipping boy again. Once again had to deal with balls lumped up to him from the back not one ball to run behind which i think we all saw last season is what he's best at. Yes his control of the ball was awful but has it ever been any different so why is everyone surprised that last night was any different. Give him the service he likes and he'll score goals lump it upto hom and he'll be awful. He also wasn't the only guy on the pitch that stank the place out last night lots of very poor footballers on display last night.
