2025/26 Beto

Beto thrives on through balls and going forward not hopeful hoof balls from 60 yards away with his back to the opposition defence no striker can do much and again no one near him if he does pluck the ball out of the sky. Awful hoof ball last night far too much of it. It’s like all players were panicking and wanted rid of the ball as soon as they got it and kept passing back or hoofing it to Beto. Felt sorry for him. From now on I hope he gets the service he thrives on. Goals will come

This is true, but as a premier league striker, even just as a professional footballer at any level, his hold up play has got to be better. His control of a football is embarrassing.

I agree his ball control could be better, but when he does have the ball no one is near him and has 2 or 3 players around him so loses it. If players were closer to him he could get a quick pass off to them and then make a good run forward ready for a good through ball or get a counter attack going. It’s players around him that need to put a shift in and help him. Not many strikers will be great in his situation having hopeful hoof balls lumped up to him from 60 yards away and having 3 players surround him and no one around to help. You can be the best striker on the planet in our team last night and they would look shocking too

It was a poor team performance all round but I was more concerned by his attitude than anything else. A player showing high energy levels, working hard, fighting for every ball can help lift the performance of a team.
I thought Beto was completely dominated by the centre half last night. I could accept having a poor game but I thought his performance last night was worse than that.
I am not sure how he lasted as long as he did.

Pretty much. Most couldn't string a few forward passes together or make any runs , of course not helped by playing both fullbacks out of position and no right winger

If a player like Beto with limited technical ability doesn't put the effort in like he didn't last night then he is useless. Not sure what was up with him but he was just strolling round the pitch most of the time. Granted the service was bad but could have still made their defense work a bit. That will be the easiest game that defense will have all season.

….disappointed in him last night.

We know he lacks quality, we know he’s at his best when he’s put in behind defenders running onto the ball but he’s always competitive and combative. I thought the Leeds CBs had a very comfortable night which isn’t like him.
Everyone looked off the pace to me last night. I'm wondering if we're undercooked from a pretty lackluster pre-season.

Comes back to the fullbacks im afraid. Having none meant it was long ball or congested so much leeds didnt have to lose their shape. Hence we couldnt get any leeds defenders turning as our fullbacks overlapped. Ha thats a laugh. What fullbacks.
We either buy better quality or you play to a willing runner like betos strength, in behind with him facing forwards. Worst thing you can do is play to him with his back to goal. So of course what did Everton do all night 🙄

We struggled last night due to being overrun in midfield, and therefore we were unable to make those passes through the lines for Beto to run onto. Instead we were by-passing the midfield and pumping it long and straight to Beto. That’s not his game and resulted in us losing possession so much,

Fix the midfield and we will start to create chances for Beto.
Maybe, but, as I said, ultimately he is not that great... but he was/is what we could/can afford
