Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Love to know how much money we still have in the pot

Surprise us? Mate, the only surprise we’re getting is when we realise we’ve spent the whole summer chasing players we were never in for.By the time the window closes, we’ll be back to “he’s like a new signing” and hoping Dobbin turns into prime Eto’o overnight.

The thing I am wrestling with is that Hammond is supposed to be this top negotiator.

However, in my line of work, a real top negotiator knows what it will take to get a deal over the line.

As such, he/she make an initial lower offer but very rarely will it become a case of 2/3 different bids going in without success.

In the case of Dibling, my worry is that Hammond should have known when making the first bid what it would take to get it done and he should have lowballed accordingly. However, the second bid should have been a firm bid that he knew would tempt them into selling.

To get into the situation of making 3,4 and even 5 bids is simply not smart and it’s not how well run clubs operate.

Using the RS as an example, they have made a cheeky low bid (in Newcastle’s eyes) for Isak but that has flushed out frustration from the player at not getting the move and it has probably meant that Newcastle will accept maybe £130/140m plus add ons compared to their initial £150m valuation.

That is what we should be doing albeit unfortunately for us, on a lesser scale than the RS.

Southampton have snared loads of teams over the years though, Lavia last season, van dyke etc

Gonzalez played in Fiorentina very well the same as left winger in Argentina team during the American Cup in 2024. Struggles a bit in Juventus like the whole team with Tiago Motta.
