Confirmed Signing Tyler Dibling

….i’d certainly challenge him ‘being head and shoulders’ above Gordon. Gordon’s market value is rightly a lot more than Dibling.

Gordon has blistering pace, scoring 1 in 4 for Newcastle who have just secured him on a new deal to fend off interest from clubs with big bucks to spend. Dibling isn’t fast, has scored 2in 38 games for a Southampton team that got relegated.

Dibling is all about potential, he’s unproven and the club are right to have a firm valuation of him.
Why are you comparing the stats of two players with a 5 year age gap and using that as a stick to beat Dibling with? Let’s look at Gordon’s stats at the same age shall we?

At 19, Gordon was playing 11 games in the Championship for Preston, not featuring regularly, and stinking the lower tier out with zero goals and zero assists.

Gordon doesn’t have “blistering pace” either. He has decent pace, the same as Dibling.

Erm, no, Gordon is much much faster 😂

Gordon is one of the quickest players in the league.

Things will be happening Zat they just haven’t text you the hourly updates.

My fax is on.

If he's been giving permission to speak to us you'd imagine a deal if fairy close to being struck.

You or me don't hear about it because we're bottom feeders.

Someone would leak...hopefully the talks are concluded this weekend.

We get Dibling, Fofana realises we may move on and quickly tells his agent to get the deal done.

Hes nowhere near as aggressive or quick as Gordon. More like an Ndiaye or Grealish type in style. Probably not going to hound a defence/fullback as much as Gordon would.

Technically he's probably more gifted with the ball at his feet but Gordon gets behind the defence and is a goal threat.

But saying that, Dibbling has been a part of Lidl Tiki Taka where scoring goals is not on high on the list of things to do.

Dibling is 5 years younger than Gordon.

Gordon only has 12 caps depsite believing he's a global superstar.

League
24/25 season 6 goals & 5 assists
23/24 season 11 goals & 10 assists
22/23 season 4 goals 0 assists
21/22 season 4 goals 2 assists

I would be very disappointed if Dibling returned these numbers between the ages of 20-24 (beginning the season after this one for Dibling).

In that Newcastle team Gordon should be hitting 23/24 season numbers every season.

Hopefully we land Dibling and he's able to grow into an effective player very quickly and eclipse Gordon

….because you said one was ‘head and shoulders’ better than the other. I’m sure I read last season that Gordon’s pace was recorded as one of the fastest in PL , I’d not have Dibling anywhere close to Gordon in terms of pace.

Dibling is all about potential, if he’s superior to Gordon in a few years he’ll have progressed nicely.

Great post spoiled by the last line.

Fofana and now Dibling seem to be one derisory unacceptable bid.

Then radio silence.

Truly bizarre.
Pretty standard stuff really. Both clubs will have a good idea of where this ends up after a bit of to and fro. Leak a crappy initial bid so the selling club looks like they’ve held out for every last penny then get to work hammering out the real deal.

Reckon we get an Ornstein 🚨at some point this weekend, all parties seem fairly happy to go ahead with it.

I personally don't think Fofana gives 2 hoots about Dibling signing for us.

I think him signing is a pipe dream,I hope am wrong but thats just my humble opinion.

I think Grealish coming in is far more likely.

Can’t get my head around people thinking Dibling is “overpriced” at 35m. I’ll be very surprised if Southampton actually sell him for that. He’s exactly the type of player a Spurs would sign for that money who goes on to double/triple in value in a year of twos time, and our fans bemoaning the fact that we didn’t go for him.

There’s never any guarantees that young players go on to fulfil their obvious potential, but even in a worse case scenario here it’s a pretty safe investment and you’ll not lose much if any of the outlay.
