Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Had we won 2 more home games we would of been in Europe, had we had Moyes for the full season we would of had 60 points, we arnt as bad as people are making out
I don’t disagree with you based on last season but we need a squad.

Last year we achieved those results with DCL, Harrison, Doucoure, Lindstrom, Mangala, Young, Broja making some contribution to varying degrees and there may be others I have forgot.

At present, we haven’t replaced even half of those and so we are worse off than last season and we were playing catch up to begin with

Problem is, guess which type of club players capable of getting us into Europe want to join. Clubs already in Europe.

I don’t get it personally. Scratching round on the bench in the conference league thing wouldn’t tell me I’d made it as a player.

We need to find a lot of players that “might” get us into Europe if it clicks, or may develop into those players within 2 years max. And just hope a couple work out. Sell the rest quickly for hopefully no gain/loss.

Putting offers in for players waiting for the RS, Napoli and Bayern is ambitious, but unproductive.
I think there is truth in what we are both saying and a middle ground.

Either way, our targets so far haven’t worked out and so we need to adjust and adapt to make sure we are moving forwards instead of the huge backwards step we seem to have made at present.

No matter what, I think the gap is too big for any of the relegated teams to worry us but it’s becoming less certain with each passing day

We are not getting bloody Jack Harrison. So boring hearing him mentioned every other post.

Conceciao (sp) fofana, kubo, Diao (sp) grealish are the only wingers we have been linked to.

Likely too ambitious for where we are now but at least this is the level. Big difference from Tosun, Valencia, Walcott and bolasie as previous attacking targets.
If we do, somebody has to be sacked...but we all know how easy for them is to change the narrative..."we couldn't get those elite players and we had to fill the squad with players that have experience in the pl". You can see it's coming.

My opinion we were too late getting this recruitment team together and maybe too quick getting shut of Thelwell, surely he could have been retained for a transition period ? Overall poor planning from TFG hope us the fans don't pay for it later on.
We look clueless and panicky all over the pitch centre midfield needs a starter right side fullback and wing needs solutions asap.
I wonder if Thelwell and Moyes didn't work well together which is why he decided to move on. It's been reported that Kev had targets lined up last Jan and Moyes said no, he also wasn't super keen on Alcaraz.
I have to assume that going in to this summer, Thelwell and Purdy had a list of targets, and part of me thinks Moyes wasn't on board with their direction which is why they both left.
That put us behind in timeline terms as we had to switch and identify new targets.
We also waited too long to make decisions on retaining or releasing players.
Maybe I'm wrong, just my opinion on why the window seems like we're slow to move.

….i think Thelwell was effectively shown the door. I don’t think he ‘left’, he wasn’t offered a new contract when his old one expired.

If what we are being told is true and we need to fill out our squad and money is an issue, we could do a lot worse than go and get Hackney and Brownbill, one on a free the other at a very reasonable price, both decent players as fillers, at the very least it would increase our squad numbers instead of waiting for players who may or may not come.

Thought it was a mutual decision, but maybe I missrembered. Still think the decision was likely informed by moyes and kev not being on the same page. If TFG had to pick one or the other they were of course going to back Moyes who they just hired and saw us to safety comfortably.
It's also not like Moyes doesn't have form for butting heads with DOF.
Again, maybe I'm wrong but I don't see why we seemed to start the window on the back foot if there was already a plan in place since last January.
