Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Aren't the majority of 'reports' pretty much saying that whilst Fofana & Luiz are hanging fire and exploring their options, neither have actually flat out said 'no' to us yet? they can wait for clubs in the Champions League as that is of course their prerogative, but if there was even a chance that they'd be open to a move to Everton should we not at least be keeping tabs on that?

I agree with your second point - and nothing to really suggest that that club wouldn't have multiple plates spinning at this point either way?
Feels/seems like this is the case though - we can only do 1 at a time, as if the transfer department is 1 guy doing it part time somehow. The only transfer we started and finished quickly was Travers, even for Alcaraz we dragged it out for some reason, and he was already here :lol:

I hope we'll address this lethargy in the next 10 days and actually complete transfers, instead of waiting on potentially observing and sniffing around possibly options on players.

As to the first point - keep tabs, but move around them. If they want to postpone somehow, let them, but move for the next target for this position, then propose the ultimatum. We're literally in a position where we can't wait for 1 player all summer this year.

Would Lukaku of signed for us on loan if it wasn't on deadline day? I doubt it, he sat and waited to see what was availible or if he was in Chelsea's plans.

That has absolutely nothing to do with us giving a player a deadline to agree a move, there has to be one, it’s just how near the deadline you want it.

We got lucky with Lukaku, we weren’t even trying to sign him.

Well it does have a lot to do with it doesn't it.
He's one of the genuinely world class players we have bought and we got him because we were his best option last minute

Whats the riskiest gamble?

1. Hanging on to save a few bob or to wait for some trumpet to get offered European football before they'll sign....and then miss out;
2. Go a bit more gung-ho and throw bigger money at 2-3 key targets like McAtee, Kubo and Luiz for example;
3. Bin the 'elite' targets off and get 6-7 'might-be's' in like Brownhill, AMN, Soucek etc?

We're at the stage where we need to go gung-ho on one of the three options.

I'd go route 2 with the view that with a following wind we could improve in the short-term AND very likley sell the likes of McAtee, Kubo and Barry for a decent profit in 12-18 months.
Alright Tony Bloom

We haven't even bought these players and you are already looking to move them on at a profit

Don’t know what your point is tbh. Yes, we can can call Chelsea again on deadline day, and we might get a good player. That’s a punt though, it’s not a strategy. Much more likely to end up with a Broja.
