Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Yep, but you don't pay the best part of £40m for Fofana and play him on the right when he's barely ever played there nor can Grealish really expect to be played anywhere other than the left, so yeah Ndiaye can probably play as the number 10 but we aren't spending loads of dough on both Fofana and Grealish. It's one of those at best.
Grealish can and would play #10, and he'd be our best player by a distance.

Choreographed a little and depressingly familiar a lot. I thought it was strange the Kinnear interview and Fofana interest breaking at the same time.

I get that Kinnear's interview in large part would have been done with the aim of providing some re-assurance to restless fans.
I'd accept at this point leaving most of the signings to the end of the window if we were guaranteed them. It comes with a lot of risk.

But then you had Moyes wading in, and whilst we all agree with him, I don't think it adds anything to our attempt to progress. It sounds despairing and potentially points to discord.

Most people have pretty modest expectations. There is concern that this is just more of the same. As a fanbase we are too quick to excuse and justify when those same modest expectations aren't being met. There is an element of the joy being sucked out of things yet again when it began as a summer of so much promise.
We get a similar interview in late July / early August every year and always get told to judge the window at the start of September. And every year we start badly AND don't finish the window well either.

So until I see actual actions and significant strengthening of the squad (which is currently relegation standard), then I will remain sceptical and frustrated. I will be judging the recruitment on the weekend of the Leeds game. If we are unable to put a competitive squad, then it will be a failure. If we have two or three good signings in by game 1, then it could well end up being a success. But we don't know yet what way this is going to go, and that's the frustration.

All we wanted was to see some obvious signs of improvement which would make a relegation fight very unlikely - that's not a lot to ask.
