Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I’d take Brownhill to allow Tim to go out on loan to Sheffield Utd.

There has to be a couple free agents like Brownhill and Regulion that would bolster the squad.

Quality wise first 11, I have no problems with we are a solid lower - mid half side, however that said it’s ever increasingly becoming a squad game, if we took 2/3 long term injuries we are 100% back in a relegation battle.
It's taken about 5 years to clear the squad of the wage drains that were these players who "bolstered the squad", they clearly don't want to go down that route again, hence these squad fillers haven't been offered deals or signed.

I'd rather be lean and have quality as a squad, aided by the addition of loan signings, than just sign players to take a wage for the sake of 'numbers'.

The Aznou news over the weekend again shows that things are happening behind the scenes, which (quite rightly) we're not party to. As ever, transfer dealings are not the same as going to Costco and just handing over cash for a product. Players have to persuaded, convinced. Clubs & agents have to be negotiated with. Other deals often have to be done to allow for clubs to actually press the button on a transfer in/out - often deals not even involving the two negotiating parties.

As much as we all dislike it, things happen as the end of the window draws nearer. Piss and moan as much as you like if we're in this position come September (I know I will) but now is not the time for people to lose their minds over this.

I know nothing of the sort. Time also will not tell. It’s quite possible for us to have a window which doesn’t meet our expectations without anyone being incompetent.

Well define expectations? They are quite clear this summer seen as though we urgently need another 6 players minimum. We are a couple of midfield injuries away from having no players to cover.

Im probably the biggest Moyes fan boy on here over the years - but i think his comments over the state of play in the transfer window are really unhelpful for the club - im really disappointed in him.

There are headline stories this morning titled:

Moyes: Really good players have turned Everton down this summer.

If you are a good player and deciding whether to join us or not and manager is saying really good players dont want to or havent decided - are you more or less likely to join.

If i was the recruitment team id be livid.

Its poor, very poor and im surprised and disappointed at him.

Disagree. We are so far behind other sides at the moment and the gap just gets bigger and bigger. We need to turbocharge things a bit. Signing mid-level dross and nothing else, keeps you there at best and probably actually moves you backwards. You then get stuck with players no-one else really wants- that's been our issue for years. We need to find a way of getting some actual quality into the squad.
Mid-level dross is a contradiction. Agree re signing dross but I'd say Alcaraz and Barry are mid level. Another 5 equivalents to them and we have a squad that could finish top 10. If we could persuade 1 or 2 statement signings in, that'd be fantastic but we don't have Europe to offer.
The days of a Bolasie on crazy wages for years long contracts are over. That's the type of thing that caused this mess.
The gap is huge, we can only hope to close on it slowly but surely. I'm still optimistic, it's the most hope we've had for a long time

Rollercoaster of a rumour is a thing now? What the heck
