Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think the nervousness comes from not wanting to be dry bummed by fellow PL teams in USA due to lack of playing squad. As long as we have what we need / almost need by the first competitive game in a few weeks it'll be sound.
I don't know about anyone else but growing up I genuinely don't remember teams signing many or any players in the summer whilst you were still in school, all seemed to be when you were on your 6 weeks off. But that could've been because the transfer window never shut. I'm just gonna wait here for everyone to absolutely prove me wrong and provide a raft of players signing in June / July during the 90's...
In the 90s mate teams could make transfers all year round. Except for a couple of months at the end of the season - I think it was April and May when you couldn't buy, presumably so that teams could focus on the serious business of winning trophies without having their star players nicked! The transfer windows as we know them today came in early 2000s iirc.

I didn't think I'd come up with it. My point is, they clearly aren't doing it are they? Trying isn't doing. City are the exception. They've gone all in. I don't understand with PSR etc, why teams wouldn't make it a priority? We've literally just signed a kid for £22m, so don't tell me we're all trying to do it.

City are run by an oil state and have spent more on transfer fees and wages than probably any team in history, so I’m not sure that’s a great example.

It’s a balance that the professional people at football clubs try to strike. Some clubs have had to cut their academy because it wasn’t proving cost effective. It’s not easy.

People suggesting going into August with 16 senior players on the books is just fine is actually burning my head out I won’t lie.
I'm not sure anyone is suggesting that's a good thing.

There are however several people managing to not lose their s*%t on a fan forum because the club haven't signed several players already.

The two things are very different Mike.

2004 was 21 years ago.

that team barely survives the championship now. the game has changed.

that team also picked up 21 points from 19 games in the second half of the season and ended up on a negative goal difference. we had a tremendous start but it started to even out. it was not a good side, they got results out of sheer backs to the wall spirit and then that ran out of gas

as another poster replied too, you had 3 subs to make out of 5. so our thin squad then could just about cope. you make 5 from 10 now. we need numbers desparately

The point isn’t ’let’s do what we did in 04’. The point is that often you don’t know how effective a window is or isn’t until you see the results of the season that follows.

If we got a couple more in, kept all our players fit and had an absolute baller season then no one would care that we didn’t buy a backup left back.

Equally if Mykolenko goes down first game and we get pillaged all season down that flank then it suddenly looks like the worst window ever regardless of who else we bought.

I’m sure Everton will buy more players before the window closes and I’m hopeful that this will be a better season than previous ones. Not sure what else there is to say really, just keep hyperventilating online until Everton buy more players?
