Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think it’s a fair point about ndiaye. Not saying he doesn’t have it in his locker but at the end of the day he’s played 2 seasons at the top level and has a total of 5 assists (none in the PL), you’d have to say it’s at least possible that he just isn’t cut out to be a creative force. He’s looked very good playing wide as a direct attacking outlet, I wouldn’t move him from that role unless we have good reason to believe he will be better in a different role.

I think sometimes we as fans are guilty of what we want players to be and not what they are mate and what they are is often fine.

Illys strengths are, dribbling, ball carrying, beating a man and goal scoring. Of all his strengths hes not particularly creative for others apart from creating secondary space by forcing defenders to come across.

Many want him to be a 10 but why would you put him centrally to have to take on tracking midfielders defending the D and two center backs.

I actually dont even think hes a winger in the conventual sense, hes an inside forward in my opinion.

He had such a good productive season last season, our top goal scorer - 9 PL goals and he didn't even start the season and picked up that injury in the Derby - its indicative of what hes good at.

Looks like we’ve got a good chance to get James McAtee 🤞🏻

Spot on this for me.

Lots of his goals are very much his own doing, or at the very least he still has huge amounts to do when he gets on the ball. In a team that creates so little on the ground he is invaluable. If he had blistering pace and/or massive creativity, we’d have to sell Branthwaite and Pickford to afford him.

Including us, none.

Dont get me wrong we need additions and we will get them, but they need to be the right ones, not just who we can sign now
That’s a given though isn’t it? People don’t just want us to sign anybody, they want us to sign good players. This ‘I’m dead zen about it me, everything will work out perfectly’ attitude that some people like to portray is a bit weird.

Imagine we had a left full who could over lap him, stretch the play and also attack when he comes inside mate - carnage.

Genuinely interested to hear people’s thoughts on why Moyes has not provided any post match comments after the last two friendlies? Twitter is awash with PL managers discussing their teams run outs and what recruitment is needed etc

Is it a case of keeping everything tight to avoid anything getting out?

Or

Is Moyes becoming disillusioned/angry by the pace of recruitment and been told ‘if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all’

Either way, it’s unusual.

I for one am happy that he's keeping his counsel at the moment.

Too many microphone junkies out there.

So we agree? Calling the window a failure before it’s over, getting worked up about things you can’t influence, assuming they aren’t grafting behind closed doors to get it right won’t change a thing.
