Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

He brings goals and solidity and works like a Trojan. He is exceptional at what he does and would help us finish in a European place.

He’s a national captain. You would be adding leadership and be be weakening a potential rival. There’s a lot about such a transfer to like.

Also, age isn’t really that big a concern. He has top tier stamina, does not rely on pace and is not injury prone. He’s a model pro.

If he’s that good why would a fellow mediocre team be willing to sell him?

If Soucek was exceptional at what he does then he wouldn't be leaving West Ham to sign for Everton for 12m.
He’s not suited to a possession heavy turgid passing game espoused by Potter. His passing game is the weakness. It’s the trade off for having a guy who is great at reading the game and who is brilliant in both boxes.

You aren’t going to get a perfect player for that money, but he is very strong in key areas.

Soucek is very influential, i think a lot of lads have said the same here, WHU wont let him go easy if it at all, the link i think is largely rubbish because no way are they stupid enough to sell him for 12 mill.

Judging by some of the comments, i think many are going to be disappointed with this window.

I think this window is going to be about judging recruitment as a package as opposed to isolation on the merits of one single player at a time, because there are going to be mixture of exciting prospects, functional players and absolute Ashley Youngs compromise needs must types - in the overall package. I wont be getting stressed by any of it isolation as expecting each.

No wonder you hate my positive posts - you only exist to worry.

madness, mate.
Any time you want to pop me on ignore, you fill your boots. Do you not agree that we need a fullback? Do you not agree that we've needed a fullback for years and not adequately sourced one? Probably not in rainbow land where you live, chief. Every year you tell us everything will be great, yet every year we're at the bottom end of the table. Why is that? Probably because I'm a bit gloomy about our prospects from time to time, I suppose?

My point is that there would be more than just Everton and Leeds interested if he was so exceptional at that price.

I think you probably overrate him a tad and I underrate him a tad. Truth is somewhere in the middle.

His contract is running down and he wants another, but they don’t want to give him one due to age and the fact he a a bit of a spare part for Potter. That said, last season he was a key player for them even as Potter tried to move away from their old style.

If Potter gets it wrong (he seems to see Soucek as expendable as he wants to build his style of a squad) they could really struggle. They struggled to get goals yet he chipped in with 10 across all competitions.

We just missed out on Tete who would have been better. We have no idea who we will sign, it is defo not worth getting upset about (unless you just like being upset that is).

If he wants to come here, he does it our way or he can stay there and sit on the bench for two years.

The New, Improved, Ruthless Everton.

This is how we have to be going forward.
He's not going to accept a pay cut and less job security, it's bizarre that you think he would. I think you massively overestimate the pull of Everton Football Club.
