Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Is it not more confident mate, to turn down an easy life on the bench here, back your ability, prob take a wage cut and drop down a level be a no 1 and earn yourself a move back to the PL as a no 1.

Its a short career a lot of lads want to play games.
Over the years I've seen plenty of top players form fall off a cliff. It wasn't that long ago that Pickford was getting the T-Rex arms jibes. I'm sticking with the idea that there's another Jake O'Brien out there who can play in a couple of positions rather than offering contracts to the likes of Young and Keane. Doubt we'll be in the position to sign top players for some time so development should be our strategy.

Again, I totally agree with the idea behind it and you’re absolutely right about standing still.

For me though, I can see Keane playing a maximum of 5 games this season.

Next season, if Tarkowski is on the decline (which he might not even be), then O’Brien steps up to start alongside Branthwaite with Tarky as 3rd choice. Then we bring in that young prospect 4th choice whilst binning Keane.

Other consideration is money / PSR. We still need starting RB, LB, CM, RW, and backup GK & RW for this season. Which one of those are you sacrificing to pay for the 4th choice CB?
You don't sacrifice any one of them, you look for the young talent that's out there and develop them into the players who will be starters or who we can sell on with a good profit. Remember Barry was bought by Villarreal for less than 12m
