Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

…easier said than done. Deals are worth £millions, lawyers and agents involved looking for the best % for themselves and their clients.

Maybe different if you’re Real Madrid, but I imagine it’s often difficult to get deals over the line with so many stakeholders involved.
Lad I used to work with has a brother who's an agent. Worked for the same company who used to represent DCL and was involved in moving Walcott to us.

Signing a player is an incredibly complex process and absolutely no signing is ever done out of the blue these days owing to the complex web of legal agreements etc that tend to be in place. The time it can take to complete one of these deals is significant, which is why I largely ignore a lot of the waffle in the press unless the name appears a few times at which point you can usually assume a lot of work has already gone on in the background.

Even a deadline day signing has usually had a lot of background work go on beforehand

Pretty much nobody ever signs anyone by just picking up the phone, making a bid, having it accepted and then agreeing terms with the player within a day or two. It's a huge, painstaking process usually with loads of moving parts.

Sure, but it would be nice to have the majority of that work done before the pre-season fixtures get underway.
Not realistic is it unless you're allowed to spend money without any questions asked. The positives are Moyes will get to see first hand if any of the young players can step up and save us a few quid

Im not worried about lack of transfers, possibly held off announcing new stuff out of respect after the tragedy this week and if we are after Doak that won't happen for a bit now anyway.

I have faith in Moyes and think we will get players in before we go away. Plenty of time yet and at least we didn't get Walker.

Plus all the bedwetting. Can’t leave out the bedwetting.

but he will hardly play and will be more coach so don’t worry about it

doesn’t mean we’re going backwards
mate far from it
Re-signing an old, broken down right back isn't exactly going forwards, is it?

We'll see in time if we're genuinely moving forwards but, at this precise moment in time, we haven't got a single new player in our squad. We do, however, still have Seamus Coleman and Michael Keane and, had they accepted the offers on the table, we would also still have DCL, Young and Doucoure.

Maybe we'll have a half a dozen blockbuster signings in the next few weeks but the longer we spend trying to convince free agents and our out of contract players to re-sign on reduced terms, the less optimistic I am for that outcome.
