Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Crikey. I’m not in that place. Going with Beto as number one for me is a big risk

Playing a striker with a 1 in 2 record is a bigger risk than playing a young striker who is untested in this league.

I'm glad we're getting Barry. Think he will do well but he should have to prove he is good enough to displace Beto. Beto earned the right to be our number one last season and Barry should have to show he is good enough to replace him.

Good player.

I thought you were allowed to sign deals with players not from your league in the last 6 months of their contract?

Whens Moyes done that before? Beckford from Leeds was an open secret but i dont remember any foreign players weve signed under him in advance of the window.

There will be plenty of people who think this is a decent move, but I'd be really disappointed. We are screaming out for quality in possession and delivery from left back. If we signed Tagliafico we'd have two defensively sound left backs who are bang average in attacking situations.

You think he cant pass?

Spot on. Will create competition and hopefully allow Barry to get used to the league and country.

Can only be good for his development. Also hopefully Beto's attitude rubs off on him.

I imagine our starting 11 in the first few games at least will be virtually the starting 11 from last season, albeit with a new RW. (Maybe a new RB depending on if Tarks is fit or not). But even then, we could see our front four being Beto, Ndiaye, Charly and McNeil.

Pretty much every player signed will need time to settle and then displace whoever is already in our starting 11.

Our squad is small, but its not really the starting 11 that we lost players from barring Doucoure and Harrison.

Not saying he cant pass, but he gives you no more than Mykolenko from the point of view of overlapping, quality in build up and delivery into the box.

Given we have a system where our left winger is encouraged to tuck in very narrow, lack of attacking quality in our left back causes us issues.

Tagliafico is a perfectly decent player, but signing him would exacerbate problems we already have.

I see the logic, though it all depends on how Moyes sets us up going into the new season.

On a free, we could do far worse and I suspect Moyes is looking at low cost defensive options to increase the spend on the advanced roles.

One step at a time, though we will need a top midfielder if we go down that route.
