Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I remember being astounded when we pulled that off. I’m still not quite sure how we managed it.

Signings of that calibre have been few and far between.

I think the only signing that’s wowed me to a remotely similar degree since has been Lukaku.
Even Lukaku wasn't the finished article when he signed - Kanchelskis certainly was. We'd just won the cup and were ideally placed to take advantage of United's internal strife. Wasn't that the summer Ferguson also rid himself of Ince and Hughes?

No, this was the last truly thrilling signing for me. Tony Cottee was another one in the late 80s. Despite scoring 99 goals for us, that one didn't really work out how we'd hoped either.

Might be a stupid question but aside from the Club World Cup is there a reason the Transfer Window doesn't line up with PSR?
They have nothing to do with each other. PSR is based on club's losses which in turn is calculated per financial year. And I think these days end of financial year is end of June for every club. They don't calculate what the loss is on TDD.

Wolves still end their financial year on the 31st of May mate.

We used to end our financial year in May pre Moshiri as well.

Basically mate, PSR is based around the Income Statement, and is effectively a form of adjusted EBITDA.

Essentially analysis the profits a business makes, with deductions allowed.

As football clubs are businesses they tend to do accounts April-April. I'm not sure why that is, but it's the established business cycle.

Transfer windows/seasons don't fit around that.

So you just have two different sets of needs running in parallel to each other.
