Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It's like buying a lottery ticket with strikers. Done more in blind hope than anything. You might get your money back occasionally, but hitting the jackpot is one in a million.
Your right its a huge lottery. No way Lpool thought Salah would have been as good! Or that Nunez would be that bad…although when your a Lpool, City, Chelsea…even if your new striker is awful.

Some team will buy him because he played for you so you might lose a bit but claw back most of it.

Moyes had little wriggle room in the day so a Beattie failed but on paper should have been good…sorry Davey tough we don’t have the money to get you a new striker. Have to keep him.

Still say that 6 month jelavic patch was unreal…linked to Arsenal…feared he’d go and was pretty much crap after that first season.

I suppose extending that analogy the top clubs can afford more tickets and so the odds are less against them.

If we find a 20 goal striker from Belgium, Brazil, or anywhere then the odds are that they'll be sold the next season unless we're in the Champions League.

Mate, Chelsea just spent £30m on a striker that managed 12. You think we are just going to go out and get a 20goal a season striker after finishing 13th when since the PL began, the majority of strikers that managed 20 (certainly consistently) are nearly always in the top 4/5 teams.

We desperately need one, but if a 20 goal a season striker is available, any club will go for them if it’s an improvement on what they already have.
Unfortunately we're going to have to use what we've got and hope the coaching staff can make them more prolific. Adding quality in the midfield and flanks will definitely help this. Imagine if we had a RW who could put a dangerous cross in or a full back getting to the byline for a pull back. I think (I hope) if you give Beto the ammunition he'd score regularly

What are you on about?

Mad thing is we only signed lukaku by accident. We were trying to get demba ba and were told lukaku was available and we were desperate.

Our best ever PL striker and we got him by luck, didnt even scout him

He was prolific on his West Brom loan previously - his talent was obvious.

I assume if we wanted Ba it was because we wanted perm not loan.

We were also a decent club at that point. In Europe regularly. So a striker of that ilk wasn’t out of the realms of possibility. It should have also been the key to push us on.

Unfortunately it coincided with our hiring of many poor managers.
