Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

There are so many holes to fill in the squad that I think it's impossible to imagine we won't be maxing out our loan spots next season.

Look maybe we will and im not being dogmatic - all im saying is, loaning players isnt the quick fix or magic wand etc - the days or Manny Fernandes, Pienarr and Arteta are long gone the loan market is well and trully rigged and tapped these days - its a whole industry - we were innovators back then with it, we almost had the whole field to ourselves.

Lindstrom, Harrison - Broja - had a minimul impact on our season for different reasons, id rather do nothing then more of that. Charly deserves a shout mind.

Which is fine, but when you go to the market with the criteria its almost impossible, its why you come home with Lindstroms and Harrisons.

We need to raise to all boats, we need to invest, in players who improve us and who will stay fit - minimum.

Our standards simply have to raise in squad building, we need to change our own mindset.

We do need to be better all around. I would suggest our poorest returns have been from loans which have been dire. I disagree that quality is scant in the loans market, I think you just have to be a bit canny.

I would hope that Moyes is far superior than his predecessor in identifying the right loan players for us - he has a fantastic track record with loan with options/obligations with us (I know it was almost a generation ago, but he has that knack still one hopes).

But 100% agree we do need to be better all over - loans in/out, purchases & contract negotiations.

We don't seem to pick up players on frees and options seem to be scant there.

We definitely have to do better in the loan market. In recent times mostly it's been a case of can't want to get rid rather than desperately wanting them to stay. That has to improve.

I don't see how we can to a comfortable place by the end of August without at least working the loan market far more effectively, in conjunction with regular transfer activity.

There are too many gaps in the squad and not enough money to go around. Clearly some gaps with remain but they have to adopt a consistent approach when money is spent - It has to be primarily on the critical attacking areas firstly.

Moyes has rarely gone for playmakers as number 10s. Usually someone who puts in a shift defensively as well as being a 2nd striker - ideally good in the air and can arrive in the box late. See Cahill, Fellaini, Soucek etc

Other than Soucek, the only one who vaguely fits this description I've seen us linked with at all is the young lad Woltemade at Stuttgart, but would imagine he'll be out of our price range
Who was his 10 at West Ham, Paqueta? Kudus ?. The reason he had Cahill was because of finances, fellaini was Mainly a centre mid, he had a season further forward when we had no strikers. I think it’s a bit blinkered to say he only likes big physical number 10’s

He tried to sign Riquelme for us, who is about as ‘number 10’ as you can get in the last 20-30 years of footy IMO.

Anyone reckon we will be cheeky and look at any utd players? Mainoo is pretty decent
I would imagine it would be the exorbitant wages they pay there that will be the stumbling block, but maybe there’ll be some loan possibilities if we split the comp costs.

They have been appalling this season tho, so perhaps we’re best off looking elsewhere!

I don't think any of us think loans are better than permanent signings... it's purely pragmatism that we need more players than we can buy this summer.

They need to sell Utd and the home grown youngsters are the best chance for them
To earn money.

Was literally mid reply saying the same.

There will be someone of sufficient first team squad standard to loan from them - rashford and sancho return from their loans (I’m lot suggesting either of those Prima-donnas btw) and their wages will cripple them.
