Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don't think we need to retain both Coleman and Young.

I get the approach of ensuring some continuity as a sort of risk mitigation ahead what should be an unprecedented few months, but that doesn't extend to keeping both of them.

Both men seem to be motivational figures, and great with the other players but really they're paid to be footballers.

Young is quite remarkable for his age and just seems to have the physical resilience that unfortunately Seamus does not. As much as I respect Seamus who has been such a towering figure I would not be offering him an extension. It's no longer merited for purely football reasons. Let him captain the side on Sunday. We need to rid the club of any semblance of sentimentalism.

I would give a year to Young but just on the basis that the priorities elsewhere are addressed.

“Let him captain the side on Sunday. We need to rid the club of any semblance of sentimentalism.”

A win leading to a 13th placed finish could mean an extra £5-6m (around what our new naming stadium rights agreement could be).
You can’t say to remove any semblance of sentimentalism and then say to play him as captain in what is a pretty important game for the club financially

Yes indeed. You're right.

We’re going to lose a lot of experience and leadership aren’t we, can’t just buy exciting kids. People play too much footy manager on here at times.

Yeah we do, but it looks like we keep Young and Coleman, which I can understand in terms of leaderships, but not for sportive reasons on the pitch. RB is something we need to change for a while. Yet both are cheaper together than DCL, Doucoure and Keane as single player and don't offer less tbh.

Nicola Zalewski 23 year old Polish international RB at Inter on loan from Roma. Surely a loan to us would make sense for Friedkin
