Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Are we that convinced that Soucek would be brought to play behind the striker? And not one of the deeper 2

Can understand people thinking it because of Fellaini but Moyes only had him as the nailer on starter in the #10 consistently in 1 of his 5 seasons here (2012/13)

Can’t find anything online about how often he used Soucek there for West Ham but from one I can remember he mostly played deeper next to Rice, then occasionally further forward - could defo be wrong here though

Soucek is essentially a defensive midfielder with a rare talent for making runs into the box and grabbing goals. If you have him next to a sitter you get a great defensive and offensive asset.

Ironically, if you play him more advanced you lose a bit of the effectiveness as it would make him easier to mark than when coming from deep positions.

Didn’t he used to play Kudus, Paqueta and Bowen behind Antonio? Soucek in midfield.

According to the sites I’ve checked he’s more often been played as a midfielder rather than a 10 this season

So essentially he's a much better version of Doucoure
