Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Why should that be an issue ??
He is in his prime and would be our best midfielder.

He would replace Doucs wage, and improve us.

stylistic issue = ??? He is THE perfect David Moyes player, in every single way. He fits us perfectly.
Yeah the stylistic thing is less of an issue. What I meant was it sort of locks you in to a long ball style a little bit. But that's not really important for me. As long as we're pushing top 10 next season I don't care too much about our style.

Financials are important to me given his age. I wouldn't want us to be signing him on a multi-year contract with a 6-figure weekly salary

….i don’t know enough about him but telling that Rooney made him skipper for his first game as Manager at Derby when he was only 20 and he’s currently skipper at Bristol City, a team that made the play-offs. Suggests to me he’s certainly made of the right stuff.
Admittedly only watched the play off v Sheffield U but he was crap

No way is he PL standard

Very high chance David Moyes won’t be here in a year though. New manager might want to play a different style and we will have to loan him out and cover wages for a few years to try and cut loses.
We should absolutely not be signing players cos of David Moyes.

Always strange too , the negative rumors are treated as gospel but anything positive, people are instantly dubious of, I get that poor negligent ownership has burned the fans in the past , but being reactive isn't helpful
Correct...People aren't will to just wait and see how it plays out.

They'd rather jump on a rumour, call Moyes fit to burn and personally accusing him of affronting them with such bad transfer rumours.

Blues have got no chill.

soucek might improve us in some respects, but i think we can get better elsewhere

stylistically i don’t like it either

also outside of the promoted sides, us and west ham will be considered in the possible relegation candidates, with spurs and man u surely improving

it makes no sense for them to sell unless they get stupid money, which we really shouldnt spend on a 30 year old

if he was on a free, fine. for a fee, absolutely not

id also be worried that if we sign him then theres no cash for Alcaraz, as we’d be needing money for the following: CF, RW, LB, CB, RB at a minimum

We have already contacted Hammers about Soucek, fee around 10 million spoken about, this was over three weeks ago, came from the Ex WH-employee and that Gonzo and Geo on their podcasts, Soucek said he wanted to stay in London and wasn't keen on the move, so I don't know what has changed, but again very old news.

Also, he is on $80k at Spam, he isn't worth that!

Sunderland midfield, not really excited over that, there is better out there in Europe, so much cheaper with a more immediate effect!

Central midfielders that score more than most strikers ARE worth 85k a week imo. Fellaini was on 75k a week about fifteen years ago. I agree with you about the massively overhyped Sunderland midfield, though.

Just me that thinks Soucek would be a belter signing ?

Perfect for Moyes, very good prem player, and we need central options.

Just as long as the fee is no huge.

I think he’d be a good signing too. He isn’t even that old. He’s five years younger than our best central midfielder. He’s five years younger than Gary McAlister was when he signed for the RS and was a roaring success for them.

Just to refresh people’s memories, we paid 4.5 million for a young Alex Nyarko with ‘massive re-sale value’ when the RS were signing a 35 year old Gary McAlister.

Prize money and league placings > eventually making a 20 million profit from selling someone like Onana, who was a bit crap anyway. We absolutely mugged Villa off with that one!

Disagree mate, the likes of Soucek and Coufal don't take you forward as a club they are just steady professionals who'll do a job to a point but you know they lack the ability to move you forward

gana is an exception, and so was mcallister

that was also 25 years ago. our team in 2000/01 would struggle in League One with how much the game has moved on in terms of speed, physicality and technical improvement

All fair points mate and ones I kind of agree with but we're going to need a squad and i am convinced we'll sign better players,am still not sure its up there with the worst decisions, but hay ho.

Beto is someone I'd be keeping personally and i like him...He's probably more someone I'd be looking to use off the bench next season mind.
Yeah. I want us to keep Beto. Hardest thing to do in football is score goals and he is good at it. Just that a lot of people were saying get rid of him because of his all round play. We need abither striker anyway. But Beto as no 2./competing would be really good.

For me, Beto's hold-up play may limit us in the way we play sometimes, but he does the main thing he is there to do. Doucoure/Soucek would limit our all round play and woild also have diminishing returns due to age.

You can see that Soucek is really slowing down, and he has never been pacey.
