Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

No,listen to the last minute of the interview,he's asked if he's still going to be an Everton player next season and he clearly replies it's out of his hands and he is waiting on an offer of a contract.
Yeah. It hasn't been formally offered to him, but he obviously expects one. I suspect, seeing as he did Ben Foster's podcast after, that he was told the offer would be on reduced terms. Which will be why he spouted off. The fact we're even in discussions over it bugs me. Thanks for your efforts, of you go as far as I'm concerned.

That's it mate.

Its the value proposition, might be as simple, as we can keep The Duke for 80k a week and get 3 goals a year or we can bring in this lad for 80K + 20 mill and he adds 9 goals to this team, hes good for two or three years at which time id hope those goals contribute to getting is to Europe and he pays for himself, in the meantime im going to develop Harrison Armstrong and Alcaraz to take over from him in 2/3 years time gradually.

Im not saying we should do it, but i can also see a bit of logic without being dogmatic - you can see situations where the experience and balance between young and experienced is nuanced and required, im very open minded on it.
I can get onboard with that strategy , although I'd prefer us to sign a younger more technical player which allows us to play more progressive football .

However my fear is that Moyes will want us to sign Soucek AND retain Doucoure and NOT sign Alcaraz .

That is my fear also. And that is what I was referring to as one of the worst footballing decisions the club will have ever made - those 3 as a package.

Just imagine letting Alcaraz go when his fee is about £12m and signing Soucek and keeping Doucoure. Absolute joke.

Yep . I can live with Soucek as a better alternative to Doucoure and to rotate with Alcaraz - not the way I'd go but as I say I could live with it as that's the way Moyes plays.

For some reason Moyes doesn't seem to trust Alcaraz - hope I'm wrong but Moyes has always liked the safe option.

Personally I'd rather we stayed away from Soucek from a stylistic point of view, but you're right that you need a bit of a blend in the squad in temrs of experience and character. There's a possibility we could be losing about 5000 top level games worth of experience from the squad this summer, it's highly likely we're going to want to bring some players in who cover a chunk of that.

I think that a different debate if you were bringing him in for the hybrid Doucoure role as a like for like mate, he is very versatile and can play as a 6 an 8 - which may be a draw in terms of utility. Im open minded on Soucek or the logic around it.

Agreed it will defo be a blend and needs to be - i think we have to be open to it, when it inevitably some expeirennced players do come in.

….players like him are rarely fans favourites because they do lots of the transition work that’s invaluable to the team. I actually think he’s ok, I always comment that he’s brave in possession and has belief in his own ability to not panic, try and keep the ball in tight situations.

I don’t think he’s outstanding but there’s more tempo when he plays rather than the likes Iroegbunam. He did produce one of the passes of the season for Beto goal in the Park End earlier in the season, so has some quality. I’m not a huge fan but he’s versatile & I don’t mind him.
Iroegbunam is nowhere near a first team player. Garner can be our modern day Alan Harper, filling in the gaps for injuries or coming on as a sub to play as a full back, midfielder or wide player.

Potentially replacing Doucoure with Soucek is understandable and represents a slight improvement in quality .
Retaining Doucoure and signing Soucek would be indicative of a dispiriting direction of evolution.
This would accentuated if we also did not sign Alcarez ( or a similar player ).
It’s all pure rumour at the moment , but at this early stage there have been no links that quicken the pulse or raise anticipation levels for the new season .
Long way to go yet though .

I cant too old - need a team around youth & pace - plus he is expensive & injury prone - swerve .....

Puts into context what it takes to sign elite players.

….i presume that’s what they’re on now and not necessarily when they signed.

The objective is to identify and acquire them before that stage, I dare say all of those offered value at times in their career. It’s why the DOF is paid big bucks. Saying that, the money paid for Grealish was nonsense, he was never in that category, not to mention the likes of Jadon Sancho who was always way over-hyped.

You really need to work on your comprehension skills. He clearly says it's out of his hands. If anything had been offered it would be in his hands to either accept or try to negotiate. Clearly says he's waiting on the club and the interview is only a day or so old.English isn't his first language but he does speak it well.

Yes, 100%. When combined with keeping Doucoure and potentially letting Alcaraz go.

Doucoure limits the way we play. Soucek is on the decline and would also limit the way we play. If we want to improve, we need to invest in better footballers with, I'm sorry to say, good sell-on values if we are to progress AND stay on the right side of PSR or whatever replaces it.

It would be so, so poor. What are your thoughts on Beto?

All fair points mate and ones I kind of agree with but we're going to need a squad and i am convinced we'll sign better players,am still not sure its up there with the worst decisions, but hay ho.

Beto is someone I'd be keeping personally and i like him...He's probably more someone I'd be looking to use off the bench next season mind.

Onana was getting singled out for praise last weekend, playing for (threat of) Villa as an orthodox DM.

Dare I say @Zatara probably nodding along to that one.

Anyway, we could do with locating the next one of that ilk, if Gana doesn’t sign - and even if he does, probably.

Definitely need a new CM. I'd like someone like a Baleba at Brighton, a bit of a Kessie type.

I think Armstrong can become the DM sitter as well.

Well I've heard a rumour (and I will confess that it is just a rumour) that we are definitely not taking up a deal on Alcaraz.

Factor in Doucoure on ToffeeTV yesterday saying he is getting a new deal and the noises from West Ham about Soucek, we can see why.

Would be an absolute disgrace that, and would be up there with the very worst decisions the club have ever made.

Doucoure said hes getting a new deal?

Wheres the rumour on Alcaraz from?

If Moyes takes Doucoure & Soucek he needs sacking. Same if we dont get Alcaraz.

Abomination of transfers since he left...
