I really hope this is lazy journalism, because this is not Moyes building for the future at all
Yeah, silly season is about to start isn't it.

Everton doesn't need players to cement a 10th-15th place finish with the current standard of the league. We've already got plenty of suitable number 10s that are at least as good as him, and much younger.

A few smart signings in other lacking and there is no reason at all we can't be where Forest or even Newcastle are in 12 months time.

I don't think Soucek achieves that. Let's not go giving rivals top dollar for their older players.

Coufal, Longstaff and Brownhill. Is it 2018 again. And I support Burnley
Coufal has been approached by Fulham, and he doesn't want to move away from London as his family has settled, so write that off

Longstaff is a squad player only, same as Soucek if he comes in, but it will be one or the other in my opinion, as both touted at the same price

Whatever you do Everton, definitely don't take West Ham's goal scoring central midfielder off them, go for one them utterly crap Sunderland players instead!

We have already contacted Hammers about Soucek, fee around 10 million spoken about, this was over three weeks ago, came from the Ex WH-employee and that Gonzo and Geo on their podcasts, Soucek said he wanted to stay in London and wasn't keen on the move, so I don't know what has changed, but again very old news.

Also, he is on $80k at Spam, he isn't worth that!

Sunderland midfield, not really excited over that, there is better out there in Europe, so much cheaper with a more immediate effect!

For me, Doucoure is the most similar comparison in terms of what we have now.
Soucek is 2 years younger. His current salary is reported to be 90k per week. Doucoure 120k.
Soucek may well demand a pay rise to move to Everton, plus factor in the fee.
Soucek 36 goals and 8 assists in 192 PL appearances. Doucoure 36 goals, 24 assists in 276 appearances.
Doucoure better at chance creation. Soucek stronger in the air both defensively and offensively.

…from what I’ve seen, Soucek has nowhere near Doucoure’s athleticism and powers of recovery and I don’t think he’s much superior in possession. A better goalscoring option but beyond that I don’t see a major gain.

Onana was getting singled out for praise last weekend, playing for (threat of) Villa as an orthodox DM.

Dare I say @Zatara probably nodding along to that one.

Anyway, we could do with locating the next one of that ilk, if Gana doesn’t sign - and even if he does, probably.

He was gobbled up in both our games mate playing against good centre half’s, thought they had him on a string both times.

Take away his penalties and he has two more goals than Beto with almost double the starts.
I think Delap will end up as a journeyman footballer gracing teams at the bottom end of the table. He's worth a gamble at 30m - that's the world we're living in - but I don't think he'll ever shine for a top 6 club.
