Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

He has a reputation as a talent spotter
I read that he’s well connected and looks after recruitment and negotiations but not a director of football or sporting director.

Looking at Roma, you have to think we will have a similar model with someone looking after the overall strategy and maybe Hammond doing the everyday operational stuff.

You’d have to think that the Friedkin’s have someone in mind for the strategic role and they have to wait to get whoever it is.

At Roma they have a Soorting Director and a Technical Director.

You would think Hammond is more the Technical Director equivalent and they will fill the Sporting Director type role later.
Yeah, I'm honestly not sure. The division of responsibilities is a little bit confusing to me. Hammond was/is supposed to specialise in recruitment in terms of negotiations etc.

The bit I liked about Thelwell's role and, supposedly, something he did quite well was implementing the wider strategy across the club. Eg. Making sure youth teams are being coached in a consistent way in terms of tactical stuff and an identity in our play. I've no idea who is going to be responsible for that sort of thing going forward, but a "Sporting Director" type would seem sensible

So he had youth teams playing the “Dyche” way?

What we need at the moment is an actual Head of Recruitment given Purdys departure
