Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think it has a lot to do with his price. About 12 million for a 22-year who looks to be the part in the PL is not much. Clubs pay double that for absolute cloggers. At the very least he'll be a good rotation player but he has the tools to be better than that. I don't personally also quite see the hype yet but on the other hand he hasn't started that many matches for us yet.
Agree. £12 million is about the difference in merit payments we'll pick up from finishing 13th/14th instead of 17th that we were heading for with Dyche in charge. Like you say, small change for someone who has racked up a few assists and a goal in limited appearances.

When we signed him out the blue, I googled him.

Found an article on here from Oct 23;

Thelwell wanted to sign Alcaraz before Southampton got him. As per, we couldn't afford him.
Hopefully getting out bid by Soton, Brentford, Bournemouth and other such teams will be a thing of the past

I reckon the Moyes lack of enthusiasm for Charly is a negotiating tactic.
Also, I think EFC should get close to 20 million for Beto now which should immediately go towards getting Delap.
You get 15m for a 19 yr old reserve keeper with no games

Beto has more league goals than rashford, saka, jota and all Forest bar woods

30m min if selling in prem plus add ins. Delap has a relegation clause so not comparable
.

25m rising to 30m if selling to,serie a

They paid £5m for him last summer. He’s just had a season where he’s scored and assisted double figures for both. Still 3 years on his contract. No way they sell him for £7-8m

Ah I thought they only got him for 2-3m as Huddersfield got relegated.

I'm still stuck in Moyes first spell with 7m fees for Lescott and Jags when both were championship players so forgive me!

David Moyes doesn’t see Ashley Young as part of Everton’s plans next season as the veteran’s contract winds down, sources have told Football Insider.

Young is one of eight players whose contracts at Goodison Park will expire at the end of the campaign, and with five loanees currently in line to return to parent clubs, it’s all change at Everton this summer.

Stop quoting Football Insider they don't know their arse from their elbow regarding Everton, and this is where Toffee Blues gets his information from

We could do a lot worse than offering Angel Gomes £100k a week once we bin Doucoure from the payroll.

Free transfer. Coming into his prime.

Gueye and Gomes might not be the biggest but they’d be a good combination in midfield

We have to move on from Gueye as a starter. He can perhaps come on as a tactical option to see games out but as good as he is at what he does he’s part of the problem.

He filters backwards knowing that he doesn’t want to get caught with someone running behind him so he tends to try and steal the ball just in front of the back 4. This is great when you’re playing a low block and under pressure every game and he’s brilliant at it but if we want to progress we need a midfield with the mobility to push forward and press the opposition high up the pitch and not worry about leaving gaps behind.

It’s a huge problem for us that Tarkowski and Gueye are two of our most consistent players but their lack of pace down the spine is also the thing keeping the defence sat deep and big gaps between the midfield and the forwards.

We need to be brave in the summer and put OBrien or a new CB next to Branthwaite and get a CM who can motor to play the DM role.

To be fair Toffee Blues is just a news aggregator account so just report rumours being reported anywhere and everywhere. Also, as dodgy as the site is Pete O’Rourke is actually a decent source and was the first to break the Iroegbunam news last summer in all fairness.

….i imagine we’ll know around the final game who of those not contracted to be here next season are leaving. Not long to wait, it’ll give us more of an idea of incomings.
