2024/25 James Garner

Assuming the black profile picture isn't a bereavement he's most likely been told the club is going for a new first choice number 8, maybe Mangala. Think it's been a tough season for him with injury and obviously Mangala did so well for us plus young Tim. Do also recall an interview ages ago where implied the squad was cliquey.

Personally though I think Garner is by far one of our better players, has brought pace in a position we've lacked it. Would love to hang on to him, think Utd made a massive mistake selling him and probably paid for it in terms of poor seasons etc. Seems unusually down to earth aswell for a football player in interviews, local lad too.

Mangala 🤣 I’m not sure he will be fit till Christmas and he’s also not good enough,
Wasn’t good enough for 17th placed Forest so why should he be good enough for us, he was a loan player whom played about 12/13 games, there’s 100’s of midfielders out there

I’d sell garner no problem, he’s not good enough has a year left and probably has a 3mil book price, so we could make a decent profit on him

Thought the Forest loan was just a bog standard one for the youngsters, he did well for them in the Championship like Armstrong is doing well now. Their league position isn't really a reflection on him personally esp given age
 

He's a perfectly competent player, but not sure he excels sufficiently at any part of his game to be a key part of a team who should now be aiming for European places. I feel like we often look vulnerable when the opposition are in transition due to a lack of physical presence or natural '6' in the middle, and so it's difficult to know who to pair with him to find that balance as a result.

I'd be more than happy to keep him given the significant upheaval this summer, but with one year left on his deal, it might make better sense to move him on if a decent offer comes in, rather than give him a bumper deal and then subsequently struggle to shift him in 2-3 years time should he fail to kick on.
 
Will find out anyways in the last year of his deal so would expect talks this summer or will be sold. Imo think moyes rates him i do think we need to see more from him but is a good player

Hope he's okay. Players probably look too much on sites & there's way too many horrible comments. Must be soul destroying at times when they're just doing their best.

I think Man United made a mistake with McTominay, don’t think they could care less about Garner.
