2024/25 James Garner

If you're one for stats. in 3 seasons(not all full seasons tbf) he's got 1 goal and 3 assists. They are not great stats. He tends to look neat and tidy on the ball but without much product or penetration.
I suppose a polite opinion of him is he keeps it ticking over.
If we don't score goals though as a team, that is hardly his fault. He is not a number 10. You want the stats to come. He is fine. In a better team the stats will probably come. We have to fix the goal problem. We scored 2 last game in the 1st half That's a start. We need more of that. If he is still not producing then, the stats will mean more.

Tend to read that a lot in the calvert lewin thread aswell.
He's ok. A bit meh tbh. Lets be honest nobody would be kicking Evertons door down for him. But that goes for most of the players threads on this forum. Its not rocket science why we tend to struggle most seasons. Most of our players arent that great. We bury our head at stats like no goals or assists. The majority of other clubs demand better.

I think he's a perfectly decent squad player, but he's not the standard you want for a team with aspirations of the top half of the table as far as being the playmaker in midfield. Gana Gueye is your ball winner, you need someone with vision and who can make the team tick next to him and Garner is a decent player but not good enough to get us where we want to be. I'd be happy for him to stick around as a squad player though, we've had far worse.
