Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

'Hope to spend' is not as emphatic as 'will spend'.

It leaves the classic Moyes wriggle room to avoid being hostage to any promises he might make.

Lol

Omg you really have to find any angle to attack him don’t you?

He’s being calm and collected and down playing it .

What you want him to say .

We are loaded la and are gonna be spending big .. like really big … to all you soft clubs out there … add an extra 10m to your players because I’m going to make the Moshiri era look like we were shopping at Oxfam

Whether it’s Delap or someone else I definitely think TFG will make a high profile number 9/forward their main priority. They certainly have form for it at Roma, signing the likes of Lukaku, Dybala and Dobyk
I'm sure that won't have escaped their attention, the only teams with less goals than us are the 3 relegated sides.

To improve this has to be a priority.

12 years almost of Moyes. I can read him like a book.

ALWAYS read between the lines with him.

He's already done the reverse ferret back in January when he arrived.

He will always find a way of making it his business to control and manage expectations.

It's all about Moyes. That's the job he has: managing those around him to maximise his profile. That means never being ambitious or taking a chance.

Experience of him surely tells us ALL that?

Not the 1st time to you’ve called Moyes out over January. Moyes came out himself and was a bit taken aback about how we were still under the grip of PSR. Why bring a player in, who he did not want long term, the kind of players he wanted may have been unavailable in Jan, the funds more likely were unavailable. Moyes has proven himself right and you wrong in this instance, so no idea why you continue to bang that drum. He will have chance to bring in players he actually wants longer term, we will be better off from a PSR perspective, and he will access to a much wider pool of players in July than he would have had in Jan. You would be the 1st on here moaning if some crab had been brought in on a 3 yr contract in January, you can’t have it both ways. It’s worked out really well for the club doing no business in January, so suck it up and accept. This is not Moyes squad, give him a couple of summer windows and then you may have a valid point. Until then, your disguising opinion as fact as you have no idea what the future holds. We are in the best position in years to begin steady progress, yet you continue to whine prior to anything even happening.

This is nonsense.

Why would it have been wong to buy a player in January and have him here for half a season prior to next season? Why would it have been a rubbish player just because it's the January window? How do you know what the PSR situation was what Moyes told you it was in January?

This ^^^ is all the classic symptoms of a fan in the Moyes management expectation death grip.

You know and I know, the best players are simply unavailable in Jan. Moyes had been in the job 2 weeks, so anyone brought in permanently, was likely to not be at the level to help us progress. I believe the PSR situation was as bad as it was in Jan because I haven’t been in a coma for the past 4 years, or during the time we had points deducted and were sailing close to the wind again, so yes, I do believe Moyes when he says we were still hamstrung by PSR! Moyes has a lot to prove, but I’m willing to allow him time to see what he does, however, you seem willing to revel in your judge, jury & executioner role, before anything has been done. Don’t proclaim you know what will happen Dave, like the rest of us, you don’t have a clue. Sit back and enjoy the ride, we are about to enter a new era of positivity. If you want to bemoan issues from years gone by, then fill ya boots, but some of us can and will, look forward with optimism.

We all have experience of Moyes transfer windows: the half-promise is there to bring a few players in; then we'll see a lack of movement when the window gets going; then we'll start hearing about "still being hopeful we can get a lot of business done"; then we'll hear about the "difficulty of the market right now"; then we'll see the last week mad scramble to get players in followed by "it was really difficult - we'd liked to have done a bit more but the pieces just didn't fall into place for us".

Rinse and repeat.

Under the days of Kenwright & cronies then maybe, but unlike yourself, I do believe the Friedkins will give him backing to build out a squad. Big building job ahead, Moyes will absolutely be busy in the market, regardless of whatever has gone before.

If you listen to what he said on Football Focus you can easily read the direction of travel we're heading in this summer. The dog whistles are already out there: "The Friedkins will give us some money, but spending gets this club into trouble".

He's telling you well in advance to expect not much.
