Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We controlled the game.

There were numerous situations where we were trying to go wide (no doubt under instruction) to get crosses in against 4 centre backs and the players were just manipulating the ball between them.

If Beto was a Bergkamp we' have probably been able to play keep ball between Garner, McNeil, Alcaraz, Ndiaye and him...thats how much control we had.

Secondly, it was blantantly obvious the 3 had never played together before. They didnt know where each other would be, where they would go...or what they may do. That comes with playing time on the pitch

Thirdly we saw Alcaraz look good on the left first half and then central 2nd. Ndiaye seemed ok to me central first then was double marked alot 2nd. Mcneil just stuck out on the right but linked well with Patterson and Garner.

Lots of positives
No doubt Ndiaye is one of our better players. But my lord, sometimes he just needs to release the ball.

Think will be a mix because cant fix in all one window. Is just making sure the resigned contracts on more sensible wages and length of deals. Is going to need the summer transfer window after next season to really see the changes in this squad
This is what Ilm talking about in terms of TFG: expectations are that they'll spend a lot.

I dont see it.

And with Moyes here I expect rather sales to facilitate players coming in and re-signing players who run about a lot.

Just watching this DM interview with the Echo from last year, where he's talking about coming in the first time around and needing to move on older players in order to get younger, hungrier ones in.

So not quite sure why he'd be signing a bunch of expensive pensioners this time around.

Thought it was quite a positive, forward-looking sign that we finally saw Ndiaye, Alcaraz and McNeil play together yesterday.

So do we reckon Beto is sticking around or was that just expediency / him in the shop window?

Think we need two strikers in personally. Delap didn't seem to do a whole lot tho, apart from annoy Jarrad..

Look at the players he signed the past decade & then think what the team would have been yesterday with Doucoure available.

Enciso is decent, obviously a highlight reel player and played well yesterday but doesn't have a huge amount to his game other than being very very good at shooting from distance. Reminds me a bit of Sigurdsson tbh.

If there's one at Brighton we should be looking at it's Adingra. One year on his contract, absolutely rapid. Would love to have him on the right wing next season.

Agree - a centre forward who has good touch and can hold the ball up would make a big difference and build more pressure on opposing teams ..

Interesting watching Delap yesterday, not so much the performance but the little soat with O Brien. Couldn't help but think if he was playing for us and did what he did to an opponent, he would have walked for the second incident.

Looked at his disciplinary record and he has received 11 yellow cards this season, 2 and most in the league.

Was previously all in on him but if he can lose his head frequently, maybe we will need to look elsewhere.

We love a CF with a bit of an edge. Theyre usually the best ones.

Also, thinking about it what did ipswich even create for Delap yesterday?

Richarlison £40m
Stones £25m
Harrison £20m
Barkley £15m
=£100m well spent
Good heavens above

Some of those prices....

Said it in the DCL thread but Richi has had loads of injuries at Spurs. Coming up to 30 so just dropping 40m on him is a huge risk. He's more likely to go play in Saudi I suspect.

Harrison 20m....da fu...

Villa only signed Barkley for 5m from Luton (who signed him on a free) and again he's been injured for three months so can't see how that equates to 15m.

Stones would be more than 25m based on what he's done at Man. City and still England regular, again lots of injuries in last two years.

Good to know Steve Walsh is alive and well and still interested in this club's prospects with that post!

We need a 20 goals a season striker for sure.

I'd get shut of DCL, Chermiti, Broja and keep Beto as a reserve option and add two more strikers. If that happens and we get a RB in who can get up and down the line that'd be progress.
I wouldn't be against any of that.

On that note tho, was just watching HK's last interview where he actually said he sold Lineker because he was getting all the goals! He preferred them to be shared around. We did win the league the next season tbf.

Moyes didn’t sell Naismith?

Fair enough, but he facilitated the large profit by picking him up on a free at the right time. He did it with others too, not always for a profit either, but in a way that allowed us to recoup as much money as possible at the right time.

Just seen people referring to Newcastle and Forest’s transformation from relegation battlers to European football within a single season. They were both very clever with their signings. They mixed age and experience with youth and potential. They both literally spent 10’s of millions signing an over 30 years old Chris Wood!

You need to mix age and experience with youth and potential. Too much of either will see you screwed! Our fans would have had a cack attack if we’d ever signed Chris Wood!

I agree. Being very clever with our signings is far beyond our capabilities.

It has been of late, but a new team is in place now, and it includes someone that has an excellent history of player trading at Everton.

Moyes knows the difference between a washed up Gascoigne and a Sylvain Distin that cost £6 million pound despite being over 30 and a similar age to Gascoigne. Distin left Everton aged 37, and was considered very good value for money.

Would love Baleba but we have absolutely no chance at signing him imo, that valuation is way off.

Looks one of the best prospects Brighton have had and they will know that. Out of our price range unfortunately and would also have a very long line of suitors if he was to move.
