Think it will be hard to bring in a quality striker when we need so many players. Not opposed to him staying for the right wages.
Not that I don't understand this line of thinking but it is dangerous. His injury record is alarming enough. We are better off bringing in an unknown on the cheap than persisting with a player we know we can't rely on. Same with Doucore, Coleman, Young, etc. We need to quit signing and re-signing fillers just to meet the quota.

Yeah I don't disagree mate, just being pragmatic

There’s a cherry on top of his impressive goals haul too? Hellfire, what are we waiting for….get him signed and give him whatever he wants.
How can we possibly consider heading into the future without “what he offers on top of the goals”.
He offers virtually nothing. All this rubbish about his strength, energy, hold up play and fantastic heading ability is an absolute myth. Centre halves love playing against him because he gives them an easy ride. It’s time to shake his hand ( lightly so as not to injure him) and show him off the premises.
Bang average striker in the same mould as the likes of Che Adams, Danny Ings and the permancrock from Newcastle

I don't think that's the case at all.

He's much better than those, which is why multiple managers and teams want him.

Beto is a big lump who can sometimes get a goal

DCL is an actual footballer
Curious to know what the criteria for "an actual footballer" is here Mikey.

Is he good with it at his feet? No.

Is he good at beating a man? No.

Is he good at setting up goals? No.

He's a target man that wins the odd header and can lay it off with his back to goal. Let's be honest here.

People say he’s our best striker since Lukaku, but that’s such a low bar.

Good strikers cost money. We need to stop thinking £15 or £20 million should get you a good striker, it’s embarrassing. It doesn’t.

The likes of Wolves, Bournemouth, Brentford all have higher fees paid for strikers than our record (still Lukaku)
Which people?

Way I see it.

Why would he sign a new deal to be backup here when he's pretty much been first choice last five years when fit. That makes little sense given the stage of his career.

He's at best 7-8 goals now even if he stays fit. Beto has provided that this season with many sub cameos so to me he fits better the squad striker role on a lower salary than DCL will be demanding.

I also think generally he just needs a fresh start in his career. It's like Rashford with Man. United. Too much negativity and he gets more stick when results turn than other long serving members of the squad.

He's at least being respectful in interviews but I think that's more to get a decent send off v Southampton rather than he seriously wants to stay.

He will end up in the championship and / or if he is lucky with one of the newly promoted teams.
