Sharpy’s return

I see Graeme Sharp, our leading post war goalscorer returned to Goodison Park today.

I’m all for forgiveness, especially for someone so high in stature here.

I’m not trying to excuse anything nor fan any flames. I know Richard Buxton has come under flak for this recently.

I’m fine with it if he wants to draw a line under it and continue being a part of a club he helped shape in some ways.

Thoughts?
Could still do a job up front given our current options

I think he should apologise and show contrition for what he did

If he does/did that then I have no problem with him returning

Did the job and pushed the narrative he was paid for. Yeah it made him a knobhead but most people do similar in their working lives.

Should apologise for sure.

Sharp is never going to apologise as he sees no problem with anything that he’s done or said.

Back in his Radio City days, he was Kenwrights number one mouthpiece. Week after week he shouted down anybody who dared ask questions about the clubs ownership and direction.

He’s a tosser that lived inside piggy Kenwrights little fiefdom and treated anyone that wasn’t with contempt.

Rat.

I was pleased to see him back at Goodison today, he deserves that if only for his service as a player.
As someone has already said, he's lost the idol status, but i'm happy that he was able to have a last day at Goodison, just like we all wished for.

Im almost as appalled at people trying to rehabilitate him as I am at him.

He shat on Everton supporters.

There has to be lines drawn in the sand and stuck to.

It was genuinely sickening seeing him in that stadium today. Someone needs punting in the Mersey who gave that idea the go ahead.

Sharp sitting their keeping his head down and hoping people just thought "oh, he's back".

He must never be allowed back at this club again.

I think my problem with him and admitting the cold hearted truth of what he’s said for years as has been stated is, that 85 side, I was about 12/13 then and they were obviously massive heroes for me. It’s an age thing. If we talk about Rooney because I’m a bit older when he came around , I’m the first to cringe when he comes back and the club fawn over him. He’s not a legend to me. I’m a loyalist. When it comes to Everton if you choose to leave you’re dead to me. Richarlison, Pienaar, Rooney whoever, but as a kid they were my hero’s before life dulled the need for heroes. And that’s why I can’t hate Sharpe. Ffs. Andy Gray is the biggest nobed going but still love him.
I can't agree more with this statement.I loved Sharpy as a player some of my best memories of Everton have Sharpy front and center. Rooney kissing the badge at Man U and treating Everton like a nothing while he was there yet he is treated better than Sharpy. Honestly I don't see how Ferguson gets cult status as a player he couldnt carry Sharps shoes. I can only assume people who don't see him as a Everton legend never saw him play.

Honestly thought he’d have equal amount of spine off the pitch as on. I was wrong. Also still have a grudge because he said he’d sign me best mates autograph book after match and he just looked at her and kept walking, he was her fav player .. we were 6. Mums were full fume that night lol.

An absolute legend, and a hero to everyone who was lucky enough to watch Everton in the 80s. Appalling that he ever felt he wasn’t welcome at our club, and brilliant to see him back.
