2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

Wasn't able to watch the game today, did he have a disaster cameo or what? Surprised to come in this thread and see that the general consensus has seemingly turned to him not being good enough.

He looked superb against palace and Brentford in the number 10 role. Then got shunted out wide and was less good out of position. Then got dropped for Ndiaye.

Shame... would like to see Ndiaye and Alcaraz on the pitch at same time

Agree with @beachy

Moyes seems to want to sub Ndiaye for Alcaraz each game. Its utterly bizarre when Alcaraz has looked 8/10 to me when used central.

To drop him after the Palace game has really wound me up when we see clearly that hes a better player centrally than Doucoure.

We saw against Forest that when he picked up the ball the team looked threatening when driving through the middle (although meant to be stuck on the wing).

Today he was anonymous stuck out on the left again.

Its almost like Moyes doesnt want him as he was signed by Thelwell (Dyche/Obrien vibes) and coupled with his shambolic player selections is trying to show the board he should be in charge of transfers...

...or he wants to have a Pienaar / Arteta wide combo with workmanlike players central.

If thats the case then hes not going to take us very far.

Dunno how’s the lad got dropped tbh.

Looking a shadow of the player we see when he’s central, as he’s coming in and getting stuck on the flanks, so doucure can remain in the 10.

We’re safe, I’d really like to see some variety in our starting 11s and tactics, as we need to look to what the squad may be in the future, and that means Charley and other players minutes, so we can properly see what we may be getting and make an informed decision.

…I like the lad but maybe we’re used to mediocracy and getting a bit carried away with having footballers who can control and look after the ball. I have no strong opinion on keeping him or not, but there is quality out there who won’t cost a kings ransom.
