It was granting teams a massively unfair advantage and was a loophole being abused by certain teams that needed to be closed. I doubt we lose that 2021 final series in 5 if the Tampa team doesn't have 20 million more in player salary than Montreal.

I don't know their situation, but you can still add injured players back to the roster although with the rules changes you can't get around the cap the way teams have done that in the past.
