Anyone who thinks Gana 'sits' has never seen him play. No midfielder in the history of the PL has 'sat' less than him.

Distin also had to deal with a change in managerial style to be fair. It can happen of course, but a one year deal is fine. Players generally keep themselves in much better shape these days too.

That's not what he does though really. He is a box to box player, not a defensive mid. He has a great engine and gets everywhere on the pitch, always a couple of yards away from the ball regardless of where we have it offering a passing option...

He is in fantastic shape. His age doesn't worry me personally. Still a very important player for us.

Losing any player for nothing who regularly plays in the first team is not good news. We certainly need a new left back but Mykolenko would certainly have provided good competition for whoever is signed , if he leaves then we now have to sign...
