Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Afternoon all. Having a relaxing day today after doing the Tough Mudder 10k yesterday.

Made up to have finished it, but feel a bit lost all of a sudden, after training for it for the last few months. Need to book something else in, to regain some focus. Not this week, though. This week is for lounging about and eating some delicious garbage.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Cruise pictures look awesome @Barnfred 55
Wow, that's impressive. Well done.

Surprisingly yes!? Although I do seem to have a disproportionate amount of friends who identify within all areas of the LGBTQ spectrum. I put it down to 20 odd years as a union rep with a particular interest in equality and diversity? You just meet people along the way. The two who have joined your cruise are the same two who were on @jazzy 's Caribbean cruise.
Not sure they were in a minority Ange

I’m disgusted with some people on here, not in this thread I must say, in respect of the death of Queen Elizabeth, and tbh I’m considering after 60+ years of supporting Everton to just pack it in. I cannot get my head around the hatred exhibited by many on here to our longest serving Monarch, the same people who wonder why matches are being cancelled, while the rest of the world shares in sympathy with the majority of our country. Our Club is being disgraced by these people. I hope I never see again anyone on here saying ‘stay classy’ because many on here don’t understand what it means.….
How much wine had you imbibed at this point Pete?

My dad sadly passed away in his sleep yesterday morning aged 87.
He took me to my first Everton game when I was seven despite him supporting Leeds where he came from.
He was a good man who was always there for anyone in need.
It then took me 8 hours to travel down to Merseyside due to the M6 closure.
Tried to get something upbeat on the radio to cheer myself up but it was all solemn stuff due to the Queen's passing
It was fair to say it wasn't a good day all round.
Just seeing this now mate. So sorry to hear your sad news.

The clue is to look at the time it was posted. I like Pete. He is a good man who takes serious clog in CA, but, and its not just him, ale and keyboards can sometimes not be the greatest idea.

Back to Queen etc etc, to me, its the constitutional stuff thats interesting. Like loads of regions having to proclaim the new King, I guess goes back to the Wessexs and the Sussexs etc having to declare that their Dukedom accepts the new monarch as legit. Centuries old tradition and custom in the X Box Facebook world is kinda neat, in a weird way.

Had a day back working in an office for the first time in exactly 2 and a half years today. The place was pretty much empty to be fair but it all felt quite surreal. Belfast was noticeably quieter from what I was used to last time.

I’m actually pretty happy I won’t be doing more than a couple of times per month, much prefer being at home on my own ?

Oh aye, guessed he was a few sherries in. As you say, Pete's a good egg who posts with a wry smile most of the time and laughs off the sparring sessions.

I find it all fascinating tbh. The public reaction is a study in itself. I don't understand why people are so upset, so it makes it interesting.

So sorry to hear that matey. Bloody hard losing a parent, condolences.

Yknow I wish places would decide if they're gonna stick or twist. I actively resent commuting in to be sat in a half empty office.

People are getting upset because other people aren't getting upset.
Interesting indeed.
Indeed. I respect people's wishes to pay their respects despite my indifference, I'd just rather keep my head down and let it all go on. Some of the nastier or celebratory comments are a bit daft, but that's the social media age for you.

The days of 5 days a week in an office are long gone. Some companies remain wedded to the past though and will take a lot of persuading to see the new way of the world.

I note a couple of the recruitment companies now advertising ‘work coming to you’ rather than traipsing to an office. Employers have to move with the times.
