Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning. Wow, a whole year of this thread. Sad and uplifting at the same time. I'll have a beer for Karl tonight. Whoever said you can't have virtual friends was so so wrong.
It poured here yesterday, torrential rain. The poor Tour of Britain cyclists got drowned!
As predicted I have nothing to wear for the wedding do I'm at tomorrow so off to the Metro Centre soon to shop. The plan is to get something that I can also take on my hols to wear in the evening. So not too posh but not too casual. I have also bribed my daughter to take Mr F holiday shopping at the weekend. He'll take more notice of her than me and she can be a real bossy boots when she wants to so he won't get away with anything.
I'm quite surprised that Alex Hales has been recalled to the England set up but also think its good. Hopefully he's put all his issues behind him.

Morning/Afternoon folks.

Hectic times at the moment. Workplace is all go for strike action in about 10 days. Management trying all the dirty tricks in the book. All getting very petty.

Meanwhile, I have my first professional music release in quite a few years coming on Friday in the form of a remix.
Had a couple of small releases in my 20’s before giving it up and then got back into writing and producing during lockdown and have since had a few tunes original and other wise snapped up and the his is the first of them.

So it’s set to be a hectic few weeks ?

I enjoyed the tropical style lightning/thunder storm we got here. Very apocalyptic ?

Morning everyone ,

Bright and sunny here today but not sure that's going to last very long.

A poignant day today , 12 months on after Karl's initial post and we celebrate our anniversary. I hesitated before I wrote "celebrated" but on reflection it's exactly what we should do - celebrate and thank Karl for the wonderful gift that he gave us.

So , off to the gym later and then start to get my stuff ready for my hols.

I'm a voracious reader at the best of times even more so on holiday . However , that's usually when we are chilling on a beach and this time we are going to spend our time exploring with trips to Amalfi / Positano , Capri , Ischcia and of course Pompeii . So I think I will cut back from the usual 5 books a week to 3 . Kindle , I hear you say - no thanks. For the same reason that I don't stream music and have retained my record and CD collection , I prefer the real thing - after all "I can't get by without you "

That reminds me of the time that I helped my mate move into a flat on Livinstone Drive North , just off Lark Lane . As we were moving in his landlord said hello - none other than Chris Amoo of the Real Thing! I was desperately thinking of getting "Can you feel the force " into the conversation and as usual failed miserably ! Nice fella though.
Your trip sounds wonderful!

When it comes to CDs vs streaming/digital and regular books vs kindle, I say do both! lol

I still have lots of CDs from over the years, but for newer music, I have been buying digital versions. As for books, I would only buy hardcopy books, but I am running out of room at my house. lol For books like reference books and other non-fiction, I tend to buy kindle versions just to save space.

Good luck with the recording . What sort of musical genre is it ?

@tommye @kev @Armaghtoffee @blue1948 very many thanks for reminding us all that it was just 12 months ago that Karl created this thread with his initial post , a post that shocked and inspired in equal measure.

With great thanks to everyone that has contributed and continues to contribute to what is ,in my humble opinion , the best and undoubtedly the friendliest thread on GOT.

Is is sad that 2 of the first seven contributors - Sassy and Toast are no longer on GOT - but we have been joined by relatively new friends such as @Vegas Toffee Girl .

The ethos of this thread has always been to be welcoming and to create a friendly place to simply enjoy each other's company and I'm delighted to say that after almost 1400 pages that very much remains the case.

We have a laugh and we offer comfort and support when it's needed.

Long may that continue , thank you Karl , continue to rest in peace mate.
I remember seeing Karl around GOT, but I didn't know about what he was going through...I would have been praying for him. :(

I'm happy that he created this wonderful place and that all of you were there for him during his hard fought battle. This group I'm sure played a huge part in helping him when the days were bad.

God Bless all of you for being the kind people you are!!!

Sounds like a plan on the clothes front.

On Alex Hales , I'm torn. Definately worth his place as a player and arguably a great replacement for Bairstow , but will he upset the team harmony ?

Part timers like me , @Terrarian @Billy Dean and @Armaghtoffee came along later .

And lots of other lovely people pop in from time to time.

I am more of a part timer these days but the likes of yourself and the regulars are the stars who keep this thread going in the manner and spirit in which it was intended.
Probably the biggest champion of the thread is @Sassy Colombian whi is greatly missed.

Mission accomplished. I found a dress for the do that I can also take on holiday with me. Also some very much reduced shorts, summer trousers and tops ( end of season sale 70% off) so all is good. Was soooo tempted by denim dungarees but had to give myself a good talking to and remind my self that a) it is not the 1980s b) I am not a size 10 c) I am older than the age of 4 and d)I am not a member oF Dexy's Midnight Runners. As a bonus I bumped into a work colleague while I was out so had a coffee and a catch up with her.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked that Chelsea have sacked Tuchel. I know they have got new owners and haven't had a great start but wow! Especially after letting him spend £250m or something like that in the just closed transfer window.

Morning all, I hadn’t realised that it is one year, some lovely words on here and I echo every one of them. Karl would be so proud so to know that his legacy lives on. I don’t drink anymore so I will raise a mug of tea to him. I think tea was his tipple of choice too, if my memory is correct.
@Armaghtoffee and @jazzy ,there is nothing like the smell and feel of a new book. Family think I’m weird because the first thing I do on receiving a book as a present is smell it. lol I too resisted streaming music, however my brother included me in his friends and family music subscription and I have to say it’s been a revelation. Old favourites, new discoveries, it has become my favourite toy plus driving Mr G mad by asking him to name that tune!
Off to buy some daffodil bulbs in Spalding, about 20 miles from here. For those that aren’t aware it’s the headquarters of the garden bulb industry, everyday a school day.
Have a good one all?
"Off to buy some daffodil bulbs in Spalding,"any Lincs?
