SCRAP VAR

How did he cock up? He had 4 seconds still to get up and defend his goal and why would he fake injury knowing the whistle wasn't blown. He was quite clearly impeded. You can't be serious right?

You genuinely think a professional keeper pretended to be down injured and allowed a goal to just go in without a keeper in it?

Apparently Mendy is going to be out injured for the next game because of the collision too.

You must be on the wind up .

The ref from the Newcastle game should be sacked for incompetence. He’s just listened to VAR rather than look at what’s happened. Or if he has looked at it and come to that conclusion then it’s even more concerning. You can’t allow this clown to take charge of another game, imagine if he messes up again and sends a team down after we’ve had this warning!

Lee mason was on var for the West Ham game, he was also on it for when we played Leeds, the clowns have also got him doing Man Utd v Arsenal, I mean wtf.
It’s very worrying for the game that clueless biffs like him are sitting there supervising var. Good to see Oliver sticking to his guns yesterday. As Shearer said on MOTD, it has to be an obvious error to call the on field ref to view the monitor

The premier league need the breakaway 6 for overseas sponsorships , If the likes of Liverpool Chelsea Man Utd fell away they’d lose millions in rights deals , Var is silent for a reason it’s there to protect the brand, therefore completely ruling out anything like a Leicester city ever again. Quicker the scum 6 leave this league for a super league the better then we can get our game back .

The problem is offside is meant to be an objective reality. Offside=offside whether it’s a full two yards in front or an inch of a shoulder. It’s very easy to say give the decision threshold more wiggle room but that then defeats the purpose of technology which is supposed to be razor sharp.

Imagine getting relegated by a goal that was offside but because it wasn’t offside enough the goal counted. It would be awful.
Sheffield utd went down and villa survived because of a var error iirc

I can’t disagree with this post more if I tried.

For one thing, I have no idea where you’re getting 4 seconds from, I’ve literally just timed it and it’s less than 3 seconds between impact and the goal going in, no way Mendy is getting up and saving Cornet’s shot even if he got straight up and attempted to.

And that’s before we even discuss the fact that it was a totally innocent minor coming together of players that in no way would have caused Mendy to lay rolling around on the floor like that. You doubt a professional keeper would feign injury? LOL, have you never watched football mate? He ballsed up his parry, saw it fall straight to Cornet’s feet, and tried to pull a fast one. And the ref and VAR fell for it like the couple of divs that they are.
Everything in this post is 100% correct. Shocking corrupt decision.

This isn’t true.

People loved Leicester winning. It’s talked about more than any other league win. That it was even possible is positive publicity for the Premier League.

Global fans either follow their clubs, or they follow glory.

Either they keep watching their team bumping along, like Everton fans, or they hop shamelessly from United to Liverpool or whoever else will rise in future.

The point is that they keep watching. Manchester United’s global audience is still colossal.

It’s incompetence, rather than corruption, that we need to iron out.

That incompetence partially manifests in siding with the team that’s expected to win. That definitely happens, but it’s not sinister, it’s just stupidity.

What annoys me is not one single manager yet has asked why its not being used for just "clear and obvious" errors as thats what it was sold as to be voted in by the 20 PL clubs.

It was clearly blagged in by the big 6/PL and so the other 14 wouldn't vote against it.
Didn't Shearer say something along those lines on MOTD yesterday?

There is clearly corruption, the official Premier League twitter account has Liverpool as it's banner ffs. Is that being non partisan?

One reason VAR is getting more corrupt is because the quality of the mid table teams are getting very good and they're getting desperate to change the outcome of the match. It just rarely seems like VAR decisions go against the top 6. The decisions below seem to have gone to a top 6 team.

I think most people are against VAR the main issue being it’s not being used correctly there are clear decisions going the wrong way so what’s the point of it, all it’s doing is ruining the fluidity of the game I’m all for goal line technology that works it’s clear if it’s over the line but this isn’t clear another issue lies in what is offside, should be simple pass the ball forward regardless if it deflects or not it’s off side if you’re beyond your man plain and simple rule to follow no confusion.

Doesn’t bother me what a social intern chose to put there.

You run the risk of sounding like a crank when you use things like this to make a string wall to prove a conspiracy - and you won’t be listened to by any serious ears.

The PL referees just aren’t good enough. That’s the problem that we shouldn’t lose sight of. Their decisions are poor - and unconscious bias is definitely part of that

Complaints that raise incompetence over conspiracy will get further.

Leicester have record for the most penalties ever awarded to a team in that season.

Vardy = diver par excellence.

decisions go your way = successful season

Yeah it's sad: I've spent a lot of time in Thailand the past year and there is just Liverpool paraphernalia everywhere, from stickers on motorbikes to people of all ages wearing the replica shirts to knock off pieces of clothing with their crest on it, it's utterly mad.

You quite literally cannot go anywhere, mall, restaurant, even the kin beach, without seeing somebody wearing something Liverpool FC-related.

They played United in Bangkok recently and the match tickets were 100x more expensive than for a regular Thai league match, yet the stadium was packed out with a mix of 'fans' and 'influencers' attaching their allegiance to both clubs.

You'd see stunning Thai models on Instagram posing pitchside with their new Liverpool shirt, yet clearly unable to even name a player or state a single fact about the club. Or you'd see huge groups of 'fans' waiting at the hotel the club was staying at going mental at the sight of literally any white person that looked like they might possibly be representing the club, screaming at the top of their lungs at the sight of somebody like Nathaniel Philips or a club physio.

This is commercialism at its finest and, unfortunately, the likes of Liverpool and United have absolutely mastered it. The money they make off this alone will be in the tens of millions each year. Us, in comparison, I'd be gobsmacked if we even made 5% of what they do in South East Asia. It was the same in Singapore when I lived there too.

This keeps the big teams at the top, and in turn keeps mega money flowing into the Premier League. So of course the FA will do all they can to keep it exactly the way it is, they do not want an Everton defeating Liverpool when there are tens of millions of people around the world cheering for a Liverpool victory.

It's incredibly unfair.
