Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Mr Sassy’s family obviously left a long time ago, 1600’s is not the recent past even for someone my age lol. so finding an English connection would be really difficult. I can do some look ups on US census they are available on Ancestry (I have worldwide subscription) up to 1950. Name/estimated birth year/town of residence would be a start. Usually it’s possible to trace families back quite a way using just the census. familysearch.org has a large collection of worldwide records including Colombia and is free to use. It’s run by the Mormon church but don’t let that put you off - anyone can search on the site.
Tbh Mr. Sassy also thought he had Cherokee genes so I wonder how accurate the 1600s is but it does seem his family has been residing in the US for a long time. I’ll pm you all that information to see if you can find anything on ancestry, but I’m also going to search this site that you have shared here to see what else I can find about our families. Thanks ?

Have a great day, mate. Would have been over for this one too but the kids bought me Stiff Little Fingers tickets for tonight. Went to the Chelsea game instead ?. Fingers crossed for a better result. Get yourself down to BMD - it'll have you smiling for the rest of the day ?
I posted a couple of pics in the Stadium thread.

God I welled up in Goodison mid game as I realised the Old Lady is going. Real dust in the eye moment stuff.

You can just enter details for an individual then you will get matches. Births, Marriages, Deaths etc. also entries on family trees and in street/trade directories and phone books. Best to start by compiling a tree with the details you already know and see if you can get any info from free sites before committing to a particular subscription site. Familysearch.org is quite good. I am happy to do some look ups for you on Ancestry to see if there is anything on there.
Great advice, thank you.

Might just take you up on that kind offer.

My American daughter in law is part Cherokee…lovely lady……

Hello dear friends.

Woke up to thunderstorms and pouring rain, although it has already stop but still is very cloudy but it is also early in the morning so there will be some sunshine later today. The hubby left early to go and play disc golf with his mates and Sofia still is sleeping so here I’m trying to catch up to some post I missed this week.

Yesterday after the match we went biking with some friends and got this pretty shot of the lake. Afterwards we stopped by a local brewery nearby and could you believe they had this flag by their bar window ffs even in Asheville there are red fans displaying their support. Im having second thoughts about going back there.

Today we have no plans, as of yet, so I’ll be doing some cleaning around the house, Sofia’s room is a mess. She definitely didn’t get mine gene trait on that one lol I also need to spend sometime in my garden. I have really neglected it this summer and it is showing by my lack of crop yields. Tomorrow is the beginning of the fall semester at the College so I’ve another week ahead but I’m going to do my best to watch Tuesday’s match and stop to visit you. I sure hope Everton signs a striker this week, we really need one soon.

Have a fantastic day everyone. Xx
Sometimes it’s handy to have a box of matches….,

Awoke to cloudy skies and light rain.

I was having a lovely sleep until Rosie got me up wanting a poo.
It's a long story but .....yesterday was the summer dog show fundraiser . Mrs J was making a mountain of sandwiches and triying to feed the 5000.
I had to do the gate at Lydiate on my own as Mrs J had agreed to look after all the animals at the sanctury whilst everyone else was at the show.
So, she made the sandwiches etc , the kitchen was a mess and we started loading my car with the food, in between times Rosie , quick as a flash , managed to get the leftover cheese from the work surface ( there was a lot ) and in about 20 secs that we were away ate the lot. She wasn't sick but cheeese disagrees with her and she gets the runs - as I found out last night when she woke me up - fortunately she made it outdoors first - too much info with your cornflakes ? Sorry.

Ok back to the show. Perfect weather for it sunny but not too hot for the dogs. Never seen it busier and as usual with my charm and wit I was on meet and greet and trying to get as much as possible off people as they came in. Anyway no one told me that we had a celebrity judge for the dog show. There was a queue of cars trying to get in and I was trying to get them in as quickly as possible , inpart info and get loads of money off them . Sounds easy but it's actually quite hard to be so nice to so many people - at least I find it hard ! Anyway this really glamourous woman gets out of the 3rd car in the line and goes to get into the show. I'm thinking - she's vaguely familiar but wayyyyy over dressed for a dog show........

Me; "Sorry , there's a queue but I will get to you as soon as I can "
Her ; "No I'm judging the show"
Me ; - with a smile - " You're late it started 10 minutes ago ., you'd better get in there !"
Her; " I can't run in these heels!"

Turns out it was ................Tricia Penrose off Heartbeat ! That will mean nothing to @Sassy Colombian and anyone under 40 but some of you may remember her.

She was actually lovely when we had a laugh and chatted later. Anyway it was a good day - we raised over £4k and I took £950 on the gate so happy days all round.

Must admit we were equally knackered when we got home though. And Granny helped out looking after the escape artists Tintin and Rosie.

You will note that I have assiduosly avoided any Everton chat. We had the table tennis club do on Saturday and a couple of the lads came along after the game. They weren't very complementary about our performance and prospects for the season so I'll leave it at that . PersonallY I think everything depends on what we do in the transfer market in the next few days but as we all know are hamstrung by our financial position but I will leave it at that in case I upset any of my chums on here. With the train strike I had to get a bus to Southport - first time I've been on a bus for 30 years - it was a really pleasant experience .

So, bit of a restful day - off to the gym ,a bit of light gardening and then a 90 minute yoga session tonight. Don't think I can bring myself to watch the United / RS game. Yes it's hilarious to see United imploding and at least they are worse than us , but the RS will benefit from their incompetance and that's not something I want to see.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning all, bright and sunny here this morning. @jazzy congrats to everyone on the amount raised at the dog show. I remember Tricia Penrose, she was in Emmerdale too. I used to be a big fan of the show., hardly ever missed an episode. Our daughter was two weeks overdue and after her daily visit the midwife confidently predicted the baby would be born that afternoon. That evening I was still at home and got a call from the midwife, who was off duty by then, saying she had just rung the hospital to see how I was only to find I was still at home. I replied I would go after Emmerdale had finished, this was before the days of video so only one chance to see it and it was a cliffhanger lol. I haven’t watched it for years now but daughter followed in my footsteps and never misses it. For her fortieth birthday this year received tickets to the Emmerdale experience from her in-laws.
Not much planned for today as we are thinking of going to the coast tomorrow. Need to do a bit reccy regarding possible pillaging sites for next year @Barnfred 55 ;)

Whatever you are doing have good one.?

You and Mrs J are both stars mate. Its fantastic what you do for the cause.

It sounds very much to me that you were flirting with our favourite scouse barmaid Jazz. I do hope Mrs J didn't clock you.?
