Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Catching up and was about to post exactly that , good job I read ahead and saved me a je suis Fred.

Do you do family trees Gwladys ? Love to find out about mine - I know so little about my family - 3 of my grandparents were dead befor I was borrn and I only have a vague reccollection of my mum's father

Levy is a very smart operator . There's no way he just let Everton have Alli on effectively a free so they can sell and retain the fee prior to playing 20 games. Henry Winter , football journalist , was saying that as soon as Everton sell Alli it triggers an obligation to pay Spurs. In any event this is a loan ( almost certainly with us paying a chunk of his wages ) with only an option not obligation to buy

Great to hear from you - hope the trip is going well , but isn't it their winter now ?

Morning campers - always wanted to do a @Sassy Colombian style multi quote thingy ! lol

Cooled right down here and able to do some gardening yesterday.

Rain coming today - lots of it hopefully , so another day refreshing the transfer update page , watching SSN and trying to avoid the cricket score.

Watched Shetland last night - really like that show but very confusing because I just happen to be reading a different book in the Shetland series at the moment and have now got both plot lines totally mixed up in my head.

Had a couple of sofas and some rugs cleaned yesterday do Mrs J went full cracking the whip mode ( don't get too excited @Sassy Colombian , I was speaking metaphorically ) and told me to give the sofas a hoover befor the guy arrived - I know , cleaning the sofas before they were cleaned - sounds weird to me too - anyway I found a combined total of 2 pens , about a bag of peanuts , a comb and 60p . Happy days.

I've had a couple of health issues lately but saw the specialist last evening and had a full check up. Need some meds but everything else tickety boo.

Have a lovely day everyone.
I am truly sympathetic about your health issues but it couldn't be from eating too many peanuts :)

Disagree Blue overall. Agree he isn't that fast but not all players are. Our problem is that ALL of our midfielders have been slow. He will also be one of the lowest paid players in the squad. Every club needs players like him in the squad. Players who are prepared to sit on the bench until called upon, and have the right attitude and not be disruptive in the dressing room. If he went he'd need replacing and probably at a much higher wage cost. Unless we have a young lad coming through the ranks of the right quality.
I see that side Fred but sadly I feel he is slow ,when the others are just compounds the problem . I feel that he is a make do and mend ,if we recruit properly his replacement could well be cheaper but that is all hypothetical . I would though love to be totally wrong and him play his socks off this year .

I agree Anj, too much of a financial gamble as we would have been about to trigger a £10m payment to Spurs.
If he can hit form in Turkey and come back a player again great but I fear he is going to slip into obscurity, quite sad really when you think what a player he was.
Sadly one of many ,I don't understand how they can let the chance they have go but many have and many more most certainly will .

I meant to mention last night Anj, there was a Blue shark seen in the River Fal yesterday. Reports said it was only 6 feet so must have been a youngish one. Marine conservationists are concerned as this is very irregular and fear it may be disorientated
Not nice to see these creatures ending up in the wrong place ,a few weeks ago it was a whale in the Seine , I wondered why they didn't help it before it was too late and it died .

I just think sometimes we need to be a bit more realistic about our squad players Blue. We aren't at the level where we can keep 24 top drawer players happy. Tom is a cheap option that can do a job and not upset the dressing room if he isn't playing regularly. In the midfield department I would get rid of both Gomes and Gbamin plus arguably Allan before him. Allan is the better player but probably on 2 or 3 times the wages and could possibly kick off if not getting regular game time when fit.

I hope that Gbamin could get back his form as well as he has had a raw deal ,I think Andre is too old to turn it around now , him and Allan will be on big bucks .

I'd like to see him used in his best position which I think is a bit higher up the pitch than he's used these days. He was best under Koeman being a No.8 with license to get forward.

Wow, are they traditionally found near Cornwall?

In the summer a few miles offshore. Don't normally see them close to the beach or in our rivers though. The video Anj posted is about 10 miles upstream too. I know exactly where it is, just by Trelissick Gardens where Cal was based. I was there a few weeks ago on a river cruise.

We did thanks, we got there early at 10had a walk around, went for breakfast, walked up to our first venue to get our bearings then made a beeline for the Oxford bar made famous in the Rebus novels.
First gig was Stewart Lee who was brilliant as usual, the setting was a massive masonic Hall with fantastic architecture, an amazing place for a gig.
After a few more hostelries we went to the Fast Fringe show which was 13 acts with 3 minutes each and a compere to glue it all together, it's about my 6 visit to this show which I would recommend as it gives you a great feel for the festival and samples the type of acts you can see.
Didn't drink as much as usual, £5 plus a pint is quite sobering especially as I have another visit with my good lady next week.
Festival not quite back to the pre covid buzzing best IMO but it will get there.
Sounds great. A few years ago went to the Edinburgh Jazz Festival on at the same time as the Fringe. It was really buzzing. Love Edinburgh - one of my favourite cities
