Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi all. Love your pics @Gwladysover . You've had a fun day! I reheat stuff in the microwave, do baked potatoes and, of course, scrambled eggs.

Had a bir of a 'mare with the new work laptop. Picked it up from the office, it worked beautifully in the office. When I got home it refused to connect to anything. Two hours later, multiple calls to IT support and they solved my problems. Also the cable they gave me to connect the laptop to the monitor does not work.

Went to the gym earlier. Had a good session, probably getting rid of all my IT frustrations.

Have any of you been watching the European Championships? I watched speed climbing last night. Blimey! Never seen anything like it. Basically running up a 15m wall in about 6 seconds. They were like human squirrels.
I watched it at the olympics and so sorry I missed it yesterday .I will check if it is still on today thanks .

Good morning all on this yet again dry day here in Hyvinkää . 29°yesterday ,luckily we don't have a water problem as we have a well 170m deep and that is far below the water table around here .
I hope all slept well and have a great day today .
Special hello to @Methuselah if he happens to read these posts .
Surprised but chuffed with " Franks " decision on Ali ,we have had hangers on for a while now and I love that he has acted before it costs the club another 10m .
I am very sad that Anthony might go but if they have plans for the money that they consider is better for the team then yes and thank you very much .
After losing Bally nothing compares to the heartache .

No appreciable rain yesterday and none forcasted for today - hopeful for tomorrow.

Mrs J arranged for the carpets and sofa to be cleaned today but then mentioned she'll be out getting her nails done so guess who has to stay in!

Off to the gym later and then , seeing as the temperatures have dropped and hopefully rain on the way will cut the grass , interspersed with the test match.

Suspect Kevin Thelwell will be a very busy boy in the next 2 weeks. I expect Gana before the weekend and then 3 more before the window shuts. Can't see anyway we can keep turning down Chelsea's crazy offers for Gordon. Looks like Dele's off to Turkey and hopefully at least a couple more out the door.

Morning all, cool and cloudy here this morning. Had a bit of rain yesterday, enough to fill the water butt and the overflow halfway and refresh the garden. Hopefully all those needing it will get some rainfall soon. Feel a bit sorry for all those on holiday though after such a change in the weather. Off to see my friend in a bit, been looking after her house while she’s been away. Last year she bought me a present a book entitled “f***ing brilliant“! Have a good day all.?

Good morning all. I'm doing nothing today. Seriously, zip, zilch, F all. And I shall love every second of it. I'm going to watch the Test match, maybe have a little flutter on the Ebor meeting at York that starts today.
Daughter is off to Nottingham on Friday to visit son and his girlfriend. Im really happy that the sibling bond is strong enough that they want to spend time together. Ive always been close to my two brothers. Her boyfriend couldn't make it - his ex is being difficult about the school holiday arrangements and it was the only week she would allow him to have their 6 year old. He's picking him up on Saturday from Leeds. She was his ex way before Charlotte got involved with him so she isn't being difficult because of her.

A little update on my quest to lose weight for my hols. I've actually lost almost two stone. So now a not quite so fat git. I've got about 7 more weeks before we go. Another 7lbs or so?

Have a lovely day all x

Very belated comments … done with the Ireland leg of the trip and in overcast Oxford now…
I do like the direction we are going in the market but I am confused ,on the TV they were saying Onana is our record signing ! He did look as though he has the fight in him ,a sharp lesson when he lost the ball for them to score -the exact opposite of Mo Besic and his first four touches .

I loved Besic.. never understood how or why it went wrong. Felt with the right guidance he had it all.
I'm now wondering if they will use Gordon as part of a swap deal for either Broja or Gallagher - which would be a good deal in my opinion.

In other news, I am getting a new work laptop tomorrow. I am disproportionately excited about this.

New work laptops is like Christmas.. I get it! The old one is normally 12 months passed a reasonable redundancy and driving you nuts daily!

Happy Monday friends.

Have I told you how busy I’ve been with work? ;) lol Today was no different, ever since I’ve been informing the Latinx community that I can assist them with the enrollment process, they’ve been continuously visiting me asking for help. And since classes begin next Monday then everybody is trying to finish their applications, which means it is madness. But it really makes me happy that I can assist this community that gets so overwhelmed and intimidated by the enrollment process that at times they just give up out of frustration. It also makes me happy that im finally getting some recognition for my work. It just makes me sad for my old department because it is such a crucial part of the College but the people who work there receive very little recognition or credit for their work. I work in that department for almost four years doing as important work as I do right now and I was a ghost to administrators until I moved to admissions. My new role is of course much more visible than the one before and now they have really noticed my work. The VP of the school sent the shout out below and it felt great. Although it would have felt even better if I had gotten a cash bonus along with it.

Btw, for those who don’t know my full name. It is Sandra Liliana aka Sassy lol

Well done Sassy!! You really are killing it! Where is this Sandra nonsense coming from? In the real world do you call yourself Sandra or Liliana?
Yeah. It was red rag to a bull by that stage mate. But nevertheless I do think Frank is pragmatic and, whilst he's here, will put him in the squad if fit and use him at some stage. 20 games is not excessive. He played in 14 last season in what was a an injury ridden season as I'm sure you'll agree. He's averaged just under 25 games a season in the 4 years he's been here. When he's fit he'll get game time due to his quality, natural rotation and injury and form of other defenders. Playing fewer minutes may even help keep him fit.

I can't argue with calls of injury prone, made of glass and even unreliable. But I draw the line when people call him a fraud and question his commitment, character and even his integrity. Call him a waste of money, a money grabber and say he shouldn't play for us ever again. Even compare him to the likes of Gomes and Gbamin?

There's another way to view this. Maybe his injuries are down to him putting his body on the line when he plays. Maybe his repeat injuries are down to the club rushing him back too soon because we rely on him so much. And maybe, just maybe, all these injuries are having a psychological toll on him. He clearly loves playing football, you'd have to be blind not to see that, and being injured all the time must me hurting inside. The last thing he needs, or indeed deserves, is his own fans turning against him.

Sorry. Rant over. I'm passionate about this as you can see. But I've always been the same. Whether it's defending our young players in here, or Jordan Pickford when he had his dicey 6 months under Carlo, or even Leon Osman back in the day who took some terrible stick in here.

Anyway, we'll leave it there. I'm giving the Everton forum a wide berth for a while apart from checking up on the transfer latest over the next couple of weeks. Let's hope we get the players in that we still need.

Before we can say we are 100% aligned.. what’s your stance on Tom Davies?

Well done 2 stone is not to be sniffed at and it gives you the push to get a bit nearer where you want . I am sure with a bit of effort you will slip into the clothes you want to wear .

No little hamsters, or goldfish or budgies for you to poison?

Well done on the weight loss Anj. We expect some bikini pics from the cruise. Or if you prefer, from when you were sweet 16. lol God, it sounds like I am morphing into Leslie Phillips after all Anjlol

I had a tip somewhere for the Ebor meeting, but it was that long ago I can't remember what it was called or even which race it was in. It may have been in the racing thread though so I'll have a quick scan through it later.

Catching up on some housework this morning. Haven't dusted or hoovered for about a month because it's been too hot and the place looks like a tip. I'll give the bathrooms a going over tomorrow.

Here's hoping for some positive news on the transfer front today.;)

I think it's fair to say that he has never kicked on from when he broke into the team. However I don't get all the hate towards him and have defended him to the hilt on here in the past. Don't do it so much lately as I'm no longer able to deal with the aggro that inevitably comes with it (as per Yerry). He's a far better player than most on here make out, and although he hasn't kicked on he can still do a job as a squad player as i think he showed at the weekend. You need players like Tom in the squad and successive managers have all seemed to like him. I think he takes their instructions on board, has a great attitude and does a job for the team. Think we missed having him available on the bench for most of last season when we were in freefall.

He's still only young, 24 I think, and can still improve, but I don't think we can look upon him as a development player anymore. You could argue that his position in the squad takes up a place that could otherwise go to a promising midfielder coming through the youth system, like Warrington or Onyango, You could also argue that his own career may be better off elsewhere so he can get more game time. For his age he has a lot of premier experience that a number of bottom end premier clubs would benefit from. Players like him who are prepared to spend time on the bench are hard to replace though, and whilst I believe we'd let him go if the right offer came in, I don't think we'd accept less than say £15m. But equally I'd be happy if he stayed.

I do despise all the criticism he get's on here for his off the field activities though. He just seems a nice lad to me, you'd think he went around beating old women up. I never go anywhere near his thread these days (and quite a few others for that matter) as I know I'd just get myself worked up.

I feel the same ,only on my bravest or most foolhardy days do I venture out into the wild beyond that is called the Everton forum.
