Happy match day lovely people!

I have been silently keeping up with your chat the past few days, it seems you are all doing well but like others have been wondering about our friend @Methuselah and also hoping @Terrarian is doing well. It was another hectic busy week for me, I'm sure ready for summer work busyness to begin dwindling soon and it should. The semester begins on the 22nd, I have a begin of school summer bash to attend next week and two more festivals to work next month but that should seal my summer recruiting season and hopefully things will finally begin slowing down for me a bit at work.

As I mentioned last weekend, Sofia was heading for Girl Scout's camp this week and the hubby and I were looking forward to spending time by ourselves which didn't work out exactly as we hoped because of our busy work schedules, but also on Wednesday we received an email from camp administrators asking to pick up the kids as soon as possible as there had been emergency. Apparently a counselor that everyone was familiar with, but wasn't currently working at the camp, died and then the counselors that were working were too traumatized to keep on with their jobs. The morning the email was sent I was on a campus tour with the President of my College and some big donors so I had not checked my email, thankfully our daughter went with a friend to camp and her grandmother had been checking her email saw it, tried calling me but couldn't reach me, then call the hubby to inform him what had happened. Thankfully she saw that email or I wonder what would had happened otherwise as the people in charge of camp didn't bother to communicate this information by call or text. After the hubby called me thankfully I had just finished my tour and was able to take off with him to get the girls as my daughter's friend's mom was at work and couldn't take off, and the grandma who takes care of her had traveled to another region with the assumption she had not to help with her granddaughter for a few days as she would be away from camp. As the days have gone by and we have talked to the girls about how things went down, we are very upset how the whole situation was approached and handled. The kids were not told anything about what had happened, on Wednesday morning they were all having breakfast at the dining room and all of the sudden all their counselors disappeared and then a few minutes later all these new people showed up and told them they had to pack as they will be going home earlier, no other explanation. Sofia said some of the younger kids began crying as they were afraid, nobody knew what was happening. While I understand how hard it is to lose someone you love, or a friend you are close too, the way the administrators of this camp handled the situation was not only improper but also cruel to the kids that have for months looked forward to this camp and they way the handled the things on Wednesday morning was very improper. Moreover, there were kids there that the parents had to drive over 3 hours one way to get them so for them to have canceled the camp so unexpectedly I'm sure caused a lot of inconvenience and stress to various parents. When we arrived to get Sofia she begin crying as she was upset the camp had been canceled and she was saying goodbye sooner that she wanted to her new friends, my girl is a gregarious as they come lol Anyway, so instead of spending some time romantic time with the hubby, we ended up the week having two tween girls having sleepovers at our house trying to replicate the good time they were supposed to have at camp at home. Thankfully during the day time the grandma, who had to travelled back, helped take care of the girls during the day as we had nothing else scheduled for Sofia and my mom is busy again trying to sell her haunted house. Anyway, that's my crazy week update.

Now let's talk Everton, I'm excited about the new signings and looking forward to today's match, as I usually do when Everton plays. But like Jazzy, I'm a bit concerned who is going to be scoring our goals, but unlike Jazzy I'm also hopeful that some magic may happen and that Gray and Gordon will become getting some chances into the opposition net today :)

Cheers friends! COYB!

Wow Sassy! I agree that this has been handled badly. Poor Sofia, all that time looking forward to it and then that happened. I've been continuing my forum stalking of Methuselah. He was seen on here a week ago so I hope he's reading if not writing.

So badly handled, Ange. I’m not even mentioning other things that happened and with everything Sofia still wants to go back next year but I’m not too sure.

I read that about Methuselah so I am also hoping he is reading that we still think of him and Mrs. M.

Where did you used to sit Fred ?

Upper Bullens me
Jaz my dad bought me a season ticket when I was 10, in the Upper bullens we both had ST there he use to park at the Hermitage pub, he’d meet his mates in there and have a bevy pop and crisps for me

Ah the good old days watched my hero Alan Ball a few times, and Bob Latchford hammering the goals in, we need a CF after watching the game today,

What an absolute mess. Surely the counsellors could have stayed on, not just disappeared, especially as the counsellor who died wasn’t even working at the camp. Their first duty should have been to the kids on the camp whatever their reaction had been to hearing news of their colleague. Obviously I don’t know all the details but it seems to me that their behaviour is totally unprofessional. Hope Sofia soon gets over her disappointment, also you and Mr Sassy at losing your romantic time together. ;)

I feel the same way, their commitment should have been to the kids. The woman that died was not even working for the camp, was a former counselor, if administrators thought the news of her death was going to cause so much pain among the counselors then they should have waited until this weekend to disclose such information, instead of causing additional grief for the kids and the parents due to their poor decision making. While Sofia was disappointed, she still enjoyed the few days that she was there except how everything ended.

Thanks @Gwladysover. The hubby and I have our 26 wedding anniversary coming up on Wednesday so hopefully we’ll find some romantic time next week to make up for it ?

Sorry to be a smarty pants but I was right about our chances I'm afraid.

She is okay, Jazz. She is just upset her social life and experience at camp got interrupted but she will survive. She begins middle school in two weeks and is now getting excited about that.

I like it when you are smarty pants. Have I not tell you about my masochist tendencies lol

You were indeed right. We need two strikers asap our Board better make it happen or I’m afraid we will be in trouble this season.

The weather in Asheville has been glorious the past few days, sunny but not super hot nor cold, just perfect. We went for a hike with Sofi this afternoon and really enjoyed ourselves. The path we were hiking had various berry bushes so we got to munch on berries all the way, which made me think of Blue and his wife. The forest was very moist and luscious so pretty. Here are some pics from our adventure.
